LOL, Indy...I understand them just fine. Besides, I don't want to mess up my manicure! I'm definitely a girly-girl gear head.

Okay - I don't know what that is?

And CK - Iowa State ROCKS! Sooners are okay. Baylor is almost okay and KANSAS SUCKS!

I think I was supposed to ship yesterday - the lovely Becky was online this morning, maybe I'll know for sure soon.

CF5 is Camaro Fest 5 that was just held in Baytown TX.

and RodParis...Iowa State meh, Baylor AND Texass will ALWAYS suck, Kansas, rawk, chaulk, Jayhawks...and GOOOOO SOONERS!!!! hehe [although our baseball team is struggling bad right now. sigh.]

Hope your ride shipped! Be prepared for the train to get a little stalled out when it first crosses over into the US. Since you are further north than me, I'm betting your train ride will only be 4 or 5 days at the most, maybe?
Good Luck!

Tip for hubby with the CAI...

I made the mistake of tightening the airbox all the way down before installing the lid, then had a devil of a time getting it in position. The lid should go on very easy--it uses quarter turn screws. I only found out after wrestling with it for a while that all I had to do was loosen the box (there's only one nut holding it in place) then install the lid, then retighten. Duh. The good news is, it's really in there tight meaning it's keeping that nasty hot air out of the intake.

Bathed the car; ready to go to the cruise-in to BBQ joint. Yummm...

Indy, hubs put on my first CAI on Wild Thing. It is a bit of a strange install, but really not to bad.

Hello EuellG! Thanks for stopping in!

Talk to me about the CAI, guys. I'm not a mechanic, don't wanna be. But that mod makes sense to me and seems like something even an IT guy for John Deere could pull off.... Does it really help keep the motor clean?

Also, I'm trying to learn about oil changes....when to do the first one, what kind of oil to use after that. Synthetic or old school... What do you guys think?

RodParis,
This will be the second CAI install for my hubby. The nice thing about the Cold Air Inductions brand of cai, is that it is a true 'bolt on', very easy install, and you don't have to relocate the washer fluid bottle. Plus, to me, it just looks neater under the hood. It's enclosed, and I think that helps keep the filter itself cleaner, longer. If you get a Cold Air Inductions brand cai, I'd go ahead and order the re-charge kit so you'll have it on hand for your first cleaning when needed.

Now, about the oil. I use the synthetic brand called Amsoil. I read on here a couple of years back, one member did his first oil change at 1,000 miles. He felt it was good to do an early change due to the possibility of metal shavings and other contaminates possibly circulating through the engine. That made sense to me, so we did our RS's first oil change at 1,000 mi, and then between every 4-5k now. I basically check the "oil life" on the on board computer, and when it's down to 30% or so, that's when we do the change. BUT....here's the catch, it depends on your driving habits. My Camaros will NOT be daily drivers, nor will they be driven 'hard'. My other consideration for an oil change is if I'm about to take a long road trip and if waiting to change the oil would put it to close to the end of the oil life. I'm old school on that....daddy would always get the car 'ready' for vacation, and an oil change was one of the things on the check list.

what does installing the CAI package do to your warranty? Has anyone checked that? It would be my luck that the engine would fall out on the ground and GM would say "your clean air intake caused that"...

Rod,
a CAI does NOT void a warranty, nor does an exhaust upgrade or a catch can placement.
headers, cam and a tune however will kill the warranty.

Drove the SS to work for the first time today. Got some ohhs and ahhs...lol.
Saw 3 Camaros on the way home, but none of them were in the club.

Funny thing...I drove the Tahoe to work yesterday, and when I got in it to back out of the garage, I felt for the 'clutch' and reached for the shifter all at once....and there's neither in that vehicle...lol. Funny how fast you get used to things.

Club[OKCamaros] cruise to Stillwater, OK today to Eskimo Joes. We should have between 10-15 5th gens cruising in. Not as many as last year, but it still should be tons of fun.
Busy time of year...cruise ins and car shows....LOVE. IT.
