Want to run a 102MM throttle body on your Camaro?
I am not certain how many members here have interest in this type of setup but we found a nice quick and efficient solution for your Camaro if you would like to have the best intake manifold throttle body setups available.
This is only for clients whom already have a FAST 102mm LSXr intake manifold. The Nick Williams throttle body is a new drive by wire unit that has a 102mm opening, that is designed to mate with the new FAST intake. This is a nice unit which can be purchased with an adapter harness to be just a bolt on affair. The reason many people have not used this on the new Camaro yet, is due to the factory serpentine tensioner on the Camaro is very deep, and will hit the servo motor on the Nick Williams, and not allow you to bolt the throttle body to bolt on the intake manifold. So we found a nice simple effective solution You need to use a Katech manual tensioner which alone is worth it, an then a shorter belt. The katech tensioner allows the clearance needed for the servo motors to bolt on squarely and, boom, 102mm TB is good to go! You will also need a shorter serpentine belt which we have measured and can supply. The benefits of the manual tensioner are also great especially on blower cars and high output cars that rely on the weak factory sprung tensioner which love to wear out fast under high tensions. So there you have it, if you want a 102mm throttle body, you just need to add a tensioner and a new belt and wah la. Regards |

Seems like a lot of work for no gain. By far the FAST intake is the biggest waste of money for the LS3 to date. I bolted one on a heads, headers, cam LS3 for a whopping gain of 0HP!

How much more properly packaged can you get than with the mods I have done? Nothing else left to do but a supercharger.

From my two wheel experience, I upgraded a 50MM Tb to a 54MM. On paper there is a 10-15 HP increase at WOT. Do I recommend this Mod? IMO- Not worth the coin, looks like it holds true for the 4 wheel performance also. That's alot of coin for No seat of the pants difference.

Different motor, but the LS7 intake manifold is superior to the LS3 to begin with.
Halltech and Katech did testing on our E85 429 LS7 and got a dramatic increase in HP and TQ. Since this dyno, Tuner Jim Hall has dialed in the tuning, added a 102 WP throttle body . The Halltech Super BeE85 Z06 dynos at 660 HP with a car weight of 3030 lbs. Definitely worth the price of admission on the LS7. We have not seen numbers on the LS3, but the demand for airflow would make this a must for all cam, headers and Halltech CAI Camaros. Very few mods make this much difference. |

Like you said, on the LS7, not the LS3 like the OP is claiming.
The LS7 has shown great gains since day one. I think only one shop claims big gains and they got railed for their results since they are the only ones, everyone else has been pretty quiet since the first few tests.

waste of money, once you start spending that much for small power gains just get a supercharger.

I have an LS3 427 (4.0125" X 4.0") with the Fast 102 and a Vmax ported factory throttle body. I already have the Katech tensioner. I hear the NW 102 is very hard to tune. How much more hp would I get switching to the 102? Currently at 530 rwhp 490+ tq. Changing to that setup would cost me around $1,500, $1K for the throttle body and $500--or more--for the tune. Would the larger throttle body decrease hp and tq at lower rpm's?
