intake and(?) computer upgrade

I am hearing a few different points of view on this and looking for some advice. I have a 2SS, and looking at all the intakes. Some people are telling me the computer will compensate for the higher airflow, and others tell me that you need to re-program the computer in order to get the true gains of the set up. Any thoughts, from ya'll? Thanks.

Both are correct, you will get gains from just the cold air kit but you will get more if you tune it also.

So the computer will compensate and you will see some more HP and it will not have any negative effects??

You should not get negative effects if you buy the proper system...some companies are selling systems where you need to re-program the car, such as Vara-ram.

If you buy the other versions which do nto require a tune, you will have the benefits that the system advertises... If you then tune the car, you will be able to squeeze more gains out of the mods.

I installed the K&N CAI myself. You remove the negative battery cable first and the computer will recalabrate. You will have to reset your clock and you may need to reindex your windows. Of course, if you tune, you'll see better gains.

You shouldn't need to take off any battery cables to install a CAI. The PCM will read the new airflow, if the CAI is built properly. Some of them are known to throw your LTFT's way out of whack, which would take a tune to bring them back inline.
