Quick question about Jba mid pipes
Will the factory hardware work with the Jba High flow catted mid pipes? Like the gaskets and bolts/nuts at the manifold? Thx

I installed mine and reused the OEM gaskets and the OEM bolts. Didn't strip the O2 sensors either. It was a piece of cake install really, though the top O2 sensor on the driver side is a PITA to get back in.

Why not just use the hardware they ship with the Cats?? I just received mine and they come with new hardware.

No the factory hardware will not work. The factory mid pipe is threaded with studs that go in it. In the Jba pipe it's slotted. No go there. The factory gasket did not look like it was going to be a good fit and stay....maybe the cause of some peoples check engine light. I bought two fel pro gaskets for $5 that fit perfect....like they were made for it. I stripped two oxygen sensors. Luckily I had a die that was the right thread. It looks like it pulled the threads out of the factory pipe. Yea yea I tried heating it and putting penetrating oil on them. No luck. Had to force them out. Pretty shitty on chevrolet's part to install them without antiseize. It was lots of fun. Still got it done in about 1.5 hours with all the trouble I had. And I changed the diff lube to Amsoil while I was under there. Having a lift made the job much easier. Why Jba couldnt have clocked the top drivers side o2 sensor a littler more to the left....I have no idea. Would have nit hit some useless tab on the trans. O well, I'll cut it off next time I'm under it. Sounds much better tho! Don't know if it gained power....but o meter says it's the same and lost some bottom end torque.

O ummm, tip: next time, install the oxygen sensors with the pipe out....then put the whole thing in....its much easier that way.

How bout I get to work this morning and some of the techs were clowning me because I used an air impact on two of the oxygen sensors to get them out. Well what they failed to disclose was the two I used an impact on were the two that DIDN'T strip out! So ha! Taking them out by hand caused them to strip in my book!
