also at Streets of Willow during Inside Lines compro and would of most likely beat it everywhere else if the brake fluid was changed to dot 4 like the owners manual states when being used for competitive racing.

If this car comes out built like the rumors, GM is going to have a hard time fielding a Camaro that can compete. A flat plane crank, dual over head cam, direct injected engine slightly north of 5.0 liters would be a hell of a motor.

Even if that happens to be the case, it would only be vs the upper tier cars. But Corvette is more than able to top Mustang's performance when it gets to that level. Which honestly may be Fords plan. Have lower trim Mustangs that spar with Camaro but then transcend that level and take on some levels of Corvette with top level Mustangs. No one knows really. All we can do take shots in the dark until the future unveils itself over the next generation or two.

Either way, you state that it would be a major change, and I believe that's what we're looking at. A "new" platform for Mustang developed with knowledge gained from programs like Boss302 (LS, S, & R) and FR500 (S, C, & GT) before that. Integration of ILIRS, as opposed to the heavily compromised IRS attempt of the SN95 age. DWIFS to move away from the ever aging MacPherson Strut design. Add to that the rumors of things like the "Voodoo" V8 and platform weight loss (even if it's not the overzealously stated 400lbs) can only improve the breed. As a car in Mustangs position stands, if they exceed Camaro's performance barrier there is only the next echelon of cars to compair it to (e.g. Corvette, Viper, etc.)

IMO, it is a joke that Ford thinks they can use a pony car to fight the Camaro and the Corvette. The Camaro is the Mustang's competition. No matter what Ford does with the Mustang, GM has made it clear that they will use the Camaro to counter it. The Corvette is a totally different car aimed at a different customer. If you want to know what GM thinks of the Corvette brand just look at what cars they used to bench mark the C7. It certainly isn't Mustang company.

Exactly, I don't think we'll see Mustang go toe-to-toe with ZR1 or Z07pkg cars. But there's nothing saying they won't give Z51 and maybe down the road, base Z06 cars, a great run for their money. Honestly, I don't see Ford even wanting to play in the super niche market of the "supercar" at all. Which is why even though they could build a car of that class, I dont see the bean counters allowing something with a highly questionable ROI.
