Where do I go from here? (Accident)
Short story: Heavy florida downpour caused me to hydroplane in the middle lane of the 3 lane hwy. I did a 180 and then went into the center concrete barrier, first the pass rear hit, then the front pass ripping out the front wheel.
Honestly I'm just disappointed that my tires couldnt do it... MPSS's with plenty of tread... They were fairly old (just under 2 years), but less than 10k miles on them. Edit: I'm more suspect of the road than my tires... Look at the middle lane compared to the other 2 lanes The engine/drivetrain is okay https://imgur.com/a/uQe1gUc I owe 10k left on it... whatre your guys' thoughts? I do have a bike to go fast in, so I might just go into a sedan from this and say good bye. If goodbye, it was a blessing knowing and learning from you guys Separate images below (the images are too big in file size to show) https://imgur.com/ChGNGv9 https://imgur.com/ce16jgS https://imgur.com/HQSpRYv https://imgur.com/nVmNWCP https://imgur.com/r089MpV https://imgur.com/LVAdBVm https://imgur.com/A33xCZY https://imgur.com/neXVznW https://imgur.com/cj2Szgw https://imgur.com/zzj2So7 https://imgur.com/iFHUxHT https://imgur.com/FLRSR9D https://imgur.com/iiXJBkX https://imgur.com/TDk9WSd https://imgur.com/o4c4Mhg Last edited by Soybeanrice; 05-19-2018 at 09:54 PM. |

Well, I'm assuming you had full coverage since you were still paying on it. First step would be to see what your insurance says. If they total it out, pay off what you owe and use the difference to buy a new car. Since the airbags went off, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the way they go on it. I don't think you'd be upside down on it. If they offer to fix it then I'd go with that I suppose, unless you are just really done with the car.

I would love to stay in the camaro family, but I dont think its gonna be in the budget until I work full time again. I left working full time to go to school and get my degree in EE. It sucks cause I dont even think the mods could be parted considering the ZL1 wheels are toast on the right side and the coilover for the wheel that came out is toast |

From what I can see it will be dependent on the rear body and air bags. Not sure if the quarter tucked enough for them to cut in a new one. I'd say your car has a strong fighting chance though.

Is it worth keeping? I’m sure the value of the car just dropped like a rock, even after repair. I would make sure GM repaired it

Got it in the front and rear plus airbags. My bet would be totaled. Either way be sure to update us.

Damn, that really sucks - glad you're okay though. Been raining like crazy here all week! If it were me I'd hope they try to fix it - it's a really nice car being a 2SS w/sunroof and the NPP. You said you owe about $10K on it so let's say the insurance wants to total it for roughly $25K, after the lender gets their $10K that leaves you with only $15K - I don't think you'll be able to get another SS that nice for $15K. Plus now that it's been scratched you could beat on it a little bit more.

It will be totaled, guaranteed. If your insurance asks you if you want to buy it back find out how much, you can make a couple of thousand. I wish I would have bought my 13 1le back, my insurance company offered 7K, I could have sold it to a guy on this forum for 10K and kept all my mods, not sure if you have any. That would have saved me $1500 right there. He buys stolen stripped out shells and uses all of the running gear and interior to complete the car.
