Had a chance to check out a couple of wheel covers. None of them had a big enough rim for my needs so I started making a lid. I cut out the piece, bead rolled the circumference to seal against the filter, then I bead rolled stiffeners to strengthen it. I then ran the edge through the shrinker to give it a slight convex shape to further stiffen the lid. Tomorrow I will smoothen out the shrinker marks, drill the center hole and start on the hose ends. I decided to go with 3" hose.

Finished the lid and got it installed. Next I will work on the intake grilles but it's now functional. Before I put it on I decided to do check valve adjustment. I've put about 5 hundred miles on it so far and it's been running great. The Crower Rockers hold there adjustment well, everything was good. I couldn't be more happy with them. Spark plugs look great as well. Whereas everything is so simple valve adjustments are quick and simple, much quicker than when in the Camaro.

I've been driving the Buick daily except when raining and it's running great. I've also been picking away at the many small things I need to do. I didn't have the correct trunk bolts and it was banging around over bumps so I machined a 1/2" bolt down to make the correct shoulder bolts. I also started in on finishing a parking brake. I started machining the pieces for the caliper mount. Tomorrow I will finish it and test fit it to the car then I can make the cable brackets and finish it off.

I've been driving the hell out of the Buick and it's running great. The car is so light and so much different than the Camaro it's impossible to compare how the motor performs with the distributor and carburetor rather than the computer and fuel injection but I do know this thing has excellent throttle response, idles very well and goes like hell.
I had a chance to make the rest of the caliper mount. I machined a couple of sleeves and pressed them into the bracket then made a couple of shouldered pins for the caliper to slide on. Fitted it onto the housing to check everything, it lines up and centers on the rotor perfectly so I welded it all up and fit it a final time. Now I will start working on the cable adjuster and linkage. Meanwhile I will powdercoat the mount and clean up the rotor so I can finish it up. |

Had a chance to finish off the caliper. Made an adjuster mechanism and powdercoated the parts. Next chance I get I will clean up the rotor and install the caliper assembly

All is good here. I have been tinkering with it. Finished the sheetmetal work in the trunk. Added a tachometer and a few small pieces here and there. I haven't been working on it much because I've been driving the hell out of it. Put about 8500 miles on it and it's running and driving excellent. I'm putting in the shop for the winter in the next week or so then I will be finishing the small amount of metal work that's not done. I'm making a few changes to the cam but other than that no mechanical changes. I'll also be doing a sheetmetal interior over the winter

Haven't done much to the Buick over the winter but I am doing a cam change to better suit the lighter car and carburetion. I'm also changing the rear tire size from 29x12x15 to 29x15x15. I'm hoping to have it running this weekend. Here are the specs for the new cam, should be fun
