June 5th New England Dragway Meet & Greet
With the Dragway opening at the beginning of April and people slowly lurking out of hibernation. I thought i'd take the time to Get everyone together for a Meet & Greet and Race if you so choose. I chose this location because it's semi-centralized and has plenty of room and things to do. These are both Street Nights Spectator Entry $10, Racer Entry is $25 if you choose to race you will need to have a SA/SNELL2010 or newer helmet. I will be their with my Laptop & HPTuners if you wanted to get a datalog of your car to send to your tuner or have a datalog saved for future tune aspirations.
Gates Open @ 5PM Racing Starts @ 6PM maybe meetup at the Wal-Mart off Exit 7 on Rte 101 around 445pm there are several gas stations if you need to top off or fill up a bit. The track also has a VP Fuel Shack for you heavily tuned guys wanting to run race fuel.

Hmm. I wish they’d let me run. Love to see what the car does now with two years worth of mods to it. But they told me don’t come back without a roll bar when it had just a cat back and a cai since I’m a vert and ran a 13.4...

Edit: Just read NHRA says 10.99 or 135mph you need a roll bar with a vert and any car running 9.99 needs a cage.

For a full bodied car you are correct. What you referenced just pertains to meeting certain sfi specs for certain speeds/times on open bodied cars.
Buried in the basic rules is the one about convertibles needing a 5 point or better when running 13.49 or quicker. And yes, I was already told not to come back without one 2 seasons ago when I ran a 13.4 lol. |

You only need the loop if you have modified your drivetrain.

For 2008 and newer the rules are different. Have a ton of customers running 12's in convertable's and not having issue's. 1 customer runs 10's and never an issue, only when he does a 9 second hit they come to him.
Problem is,some of the inspectors do not know the rules. |

Ya they loosened the rules up considerably on the newer cars. The older rules were antiquated at best and for full on street rod builds with minimal modern oem safety equipment.

Well, I emailed the tech director at ned and the head northeast region NHRA tech inspector. Let’s see if they answer me and give me something concrete I can point to when I go. I’d love to see what the car does with a cam and gears and other bolt ons. And maybe a 150 shot lol....

I knew 2008 up were looser but 2 years ago when I went they said they only applied to hard top cars. The rule book clearly stated it at the time too but when I looked for the same wording in the current one I didn’t see it so fingers crossed.
