Actually, I was hoping that GM would get approved to purchase Chrysler before bankruptcy. The government denied the loan necessary for this to happen last year. I wanted GM to take the Jeep brand and the Ram brand while selling most of the other assets. It would have been nice to have a couple of specialty cars, like the Prowler and the Challenger for sale at Chevy dealers using their original badging. GM would then be able to build a variety of historic muscle cars and that could be its identity in the automotive market.

Obviously, I spent too much time thinking about this.

They shuld of let the employees buy it when they wanted it.

Instead they force it into Serb hands who only want it to make a quick profit, they had no intrest in a long term running of the company.

I'm interested in seeing what happens, IMO the only thing Chrysler had going for them were the Trucks and Jeeps, and in the past couple years they were messing up the jeep brand; compass/patriot . Everything else was just awful, not so much so for the Challenger/Charger and Viper and two of those I'm not even that fond of but the sebring, caliber/avenger, and nitro can all burn. I guess the Caravan is ok but who wants to buy an ugly ass minivan when you could get an Escape or Equinox cheaper and get better gas milage. while looking better doing it. Do Ford or GM even sell minivans anymore? Every Dodge/Chrysler my family or friends have ever owned has needed a new transmission, ranging from a '93 Newyorker to an '04 Ram, in between there were a couple vans and a Stratus. I say good riddance, maybe Fiat can make them not suck so bad.

Would not consider 3,000 units a month as "selling great."

Chrysler doesn't need a low-volume car, they need a new Sebring, a new Caliber, a completely revamped lineup...

here is what I dont get... funny story actually.

I go to take my father in law to pick up his 2001 Ram that needs a clutch at the dealership. I roll up in the camaro and park in the service area but its closed so we walk over to the sales area. I see two nice SRT8 challys with a MSRP then an added sticker for paint protector = $795 and something called L.O.A. = $3,000. So I ask a salesman... "hey whats LOA?" reply sternly "Lack Of Avalibility" So I say.."oh mark up" and walk off. Then he says we also have a nice Camaro SS over there" so me being the smart ass I am, I say, "No I have a really nice camaro SS right on the other side of that building." He walks off... So I go look at the Camaro... all be damned if it isnt SIM with black hood and hockey stripes!

So then i go inside, a third SRT8 with LOA... hmm 3 at one dealer, seems pretty available to me. Maybe someone needs to tell these guys to wake up. It should have said L.O.D = -$3,000... Lack of Demand!

Sorry Chrysler...

"LOA" that is the laugh of the day....."LOD" is more like it.

My local dealer has 6 Challengers sitting in his lot collecting dust. I do like the b5 blue, though.

That is their biggest problem.

There is no lack of aanything, they are just creating a lack of car my marking them up another $4000, its like the dealers want to go out of business.

I will only feel bad for them if I can have a 2009 300C SRT8

My opinon on the Challenger not selling much, is because of the competitors it has, Mustang and Camaro; Who want's a 427 Horse $43,000+ car (SRT8) when you can have a 426 Horse $34,500+ car (2SS)?

Thumbs up

Yeah, it saddens me. I liked Dodge cars/trucks the way they were. Who knows what they will become like now?!?!

Chrysler is giving their 5 year vision as we speak.

Despite your local case with cars in the lot, my understanding is that the Challenger at least is selling well. They have a supply shortage and don't have to do any markdowns or cashback, etc for that 1 particular model. There are quite a few Camaros at the local lot that have been there for at least a few weeks, but I know Camaros are selling well.
