RPM - TR6060 Level VII
Gents,
Upon recommendation by my shop I am going with the RPM level 7 TR-6060 and was just wondering if anyone else has that particular transmission and/or any experience with RPM?

Have you looked into the RSG with billet 9310 1st-5th gears? That's what I'm going with the RPS triple carbon clutch. BTW, love your car. I'm trying to get to your HP with my little Maggie

I've got a Level VI TR6060 and have no complaints with it. When I thought I broke it, I called RPM and they were very helpful. Turns out what happened was my carbon fiber driveshaft came unglued from exhaust heat. That is what happens when you have the exhaust dumping not far after the turbos...
On a related note, DSS reglued it for free!! I have since made sure the entire exhaust was on and is wrapped with header wrap along the length near the driveshaft. I haven't dumped the clutch or anything but so far, so good. |

I have to agree with you about their site. I was looking at RPM as well and then got "steered" RSG's way. I think we are both in good hands.Good luck

When I get the trans in I hope to make it to the track b4 something else breaks, lol. Been heavily debating having the suction restriction limiter pulled and retuned before I take it to the track. With the new heads it should lay down close to 1100 with the limiter pulled. Wonder how long the SBE would last pushing 1100, lol.

Camaro went to the shop today for the RPM TR6060 Level VII install. Shop owner was explaining how meticulous RPM is with their builds. A lot of polished billit parts inside and out. He says this tranny will shift like a knife slicing though hot butter.
Will soon see

Sounds like you will be up and running before me. Mine got shipped off last Thursday for rebuild. I hope we see as big of a difference as they say. You should bring that beast down to Victoria in October for the Texas Mile.

Getting a trans from RPM is different. You order what you want and they ship it to you (It came on a nice pallet all shrink wrapped). Then you ship back the old trans to RPM to be used as a core.
I am not set up for the mile and this old man doesn't really like driving that fast. I deal with it on the 1/4 but haven't been over 140 mph in the car ever.

This is a copy/paste from my F-1X build thread so no new news here and probably my last post in this section about the new tranny.
OK Ladies and Gents, I have driven the car twice now with the new RPM Level VII TR6060 tranny and I am impressed so far. The shifts are crisp, clean, and tight. Sort of hard to describe the difference in feeling from the stock TR6060. The gears feel like they "plant" upon every shift. The pattern is tight and solid feeling. There is ~ 200 mi break in for the rings and pads to set but it is basically good to go. I'm not going to lie, it is an expensive transmission and I wouldn't recommend "just switching" arbitrarily, but I am currently and in the future gonna throw a lot of power at this tranny and it is built to take it so that is why I bit the bullet and made the upgrade.
