Ditto for Sierra Pro and SLE vs WT and Custom.

I know Ford claims they're getting rid of trims and options. Might that be a way ford GM to do the same? It would explain why there's no e ext. Cab Colorado ( which I see every day here in SC).

It would make sense. This strategy gives GMC a chance to really carve their own niche in the market rather than just being alternatives to equivalent Chevrolets. Seems like most people who want a work truck or bare bones base model are going to buy the Chevrolet offering anyways.

I think Ford is keeping trims, but basically getting rid of option packages like some of the Japanese makes do.

Agreed. I can't see a GMC dealer in BFE Oklahoma or fleet operator being sad about the loss of the SLE trim or Pro as the Silverado is already cheaper.. Elevation, AT4, and Denali? Sure. And the monthly payment difference between a loaded High Country and Denali(not the Ultimate) would be neglible at best for those that can afford it.

This would make 7 trims for Silverado and 6 for GMC.

WT Custom CTB LT LTTB RST ZR2
vs.
Elevation SLT AT4 AT4X DENALI DENALI ULT

You can still have part sharing between models to lower cost as well(LTTB at AT4 for instance). And ease the burden on semiconductor usage.

I think the big girls ( full size SUVs) are separated enough now they're fine.

STARTING at 40k, good Lord. I'm really impressed though with the design elements, clearly pushing GMC upmarket from the Chevy twin.

I balked a little at that too, but...

Standard 2.7T HO
Standard factory lift
Standard widened track
No base work truck model

It makes sense.

That's a good point. It's more differentiation for the twins.

According to GMC, the price of the Elevation will also be going up, starting at an estimated $41,495. The AT4, which GMC told us was the most popular Canyon sold in the last generation, is estimated to start at a more reasonable $42,495.
So, adding 4x4...and assuming (praying) that includes the $1,500 OnStar "tax" that means should be able to get into a decently equipped AT4 for around $45 or $46K.

Hopefully like the full size AT4, that it will include leather seats instead of that being another package add on. (of course, the full size AT4 starts in the mid 60s...yikes)

I had an S10 zr2 and a Colorado Z71 years back, really like what I’m seeing on the midsize redesigns, top to bottom, inside and out.

Spec sheet separates the Elevation trim into 2WD and 4WD but doesn't for any of the others. Leads me to assume 4WD is standard on those.

4WD is part of the current AT4. Can't select 2WD on the site configurator when selecting AT4. If you do select 2WD, it changes the trim to something else. So I'd agree with that.

I priced a 2022 Canyon Elevation Crew Cab Short Box with the 3.6L. Basically tried to get it as close to a 2023's level of equipment.

Came out to $37k. If a 2023 Canyon Elevation starts at $41k then that honestly makes sense.
