Ok Camaro5 peeps, help me out...scam or no scam

In my extremly local community paper there is an add for a 2010 camaro with 17k miles on sale for $18k. I figure its a V6 which would seem about right.

I contact the guy he says its a orange manual SS with both hood and hockey stripes. I am in NJ and I see him phone number is (646) which is NY. So I tell him I am very interested where is the car I would like to come see it. He tells me it is in Maryland and attaches these photos

Now to be honest I don't see how this car could be for sale for $18k with only 17k miles with all those options and condiditon. Gave me a VIN of 2G1FT1EW0A9102869 which I can't scan since I don't have a service. But I REALLLLY feel like I have seen those photos before. Especially the one where Incubus is on the radio. I scoured the site looking for that photo to no avail.

Anyway a few things make no sense to me. NY phone, car is in MD. I am in NJ and the paper that this ad was in has ZERO exposure. Its literally a community paper in a town 5 square miles. Why would an out of stater even put it there. The car is clean, too clean for $18k with that mileage. And he starts talking about using google checkout which is a huge red flag. Also the car has no license plate brackets or holes. I think you need a front plate in both NY and MD, you do in NJ for sure

I dunno thoughts? I just know I have seen that pic before.

The license plate thing wouldn't throw me (I'm in NY and mine has no holes and never will!). The google checkout, and 646 number? Yeah HUGE red flag. its a scam. Cash in hand in person or nothing!

Tell him you have a friend in Maryland who will check it out in person first and I doubt you will ever hear from him again.

The only way that car is 18k is if there is no engine in it lol.

The pic does seem familiar to me too for some reason. Must of seen it somewhere on these forums.

Yeah I get this on craigslist too all the time when I try to sell my vintage Marshall stack. Within minutes I get the please take off I will send my peopel to pick it up and pay you $50 more. Blah Blah Blah. I can catch those but this one the guy is emailing me back and being personal. Has stories about needing to liquidate to save his business and his wife made him sell it. Had a buyer but they backed out. So its different and I didn't want to miss the opportunity of a lifetime if that was the case. LOL.

they perfect their stories, I'm 16 and was looking at small trucks on craigslist, and the guy told me he could only email for now, the email was like a common name. because he was on a military base and needed to sell it quick because he was leaving for Afghanistan. he also said since he was in the military he would get me free shipping and he wanted me to pay through paypal. My mom told me to stop emailing him so i replied to him "I hope you trying to scam people comes back to haunt you" I never heard from him again and the next day i see it posted again with another with another common name for the email address...anyway they will perfect their stories to make them as believable as possible

Guaranteed scam. I deal with this on a monthly basis at the police department. In his emails does he ever address you by name? Does he ever give his phone number? Is his grammar correct? Does he tell you that you can come and see the car? Why does he want a 3rd party checkout? If i'm selling a car I want cash in hand or bank transfer for that amount of money. Smell 99.9999999% chance of a scam....don't lose your money
