Because that's all the stock blower can support. The 4v 5.4 in the gt500 has seen 1400rwhp on the stock reciprocating assembly in the fgt. With a big blower setup or a couple of snails under the hood, they routinely crack ~800hp.

I was just having a little bit of fun but yes I know the PM rods arnt the greatest and are probably borrowed time at 1,000whp but not at 700hp. The reason why most GT500 owners stop around 600whp is because that's how far their stock 1.9L non tvs supercharger and fuel system will take them. It takes about $6k to take the GT500 to the next step with a twin screw supercharger just like Ford Racing's 750hp 2.9L Whipple which is safe and reliable and can make 750whp all day with bolt ons and good gas. |

When you say just add boost and fuel to make over 1000rwhp thats MUCH different. The GT500 has forged internals so obviously it can handle more power than most stock cars. I'll believe it when I see a 1000+rwhp GT500 just running upgraded boost and fuel run down the track and not break.

I think 6k is the starting point as far as costs. At that power level you can expect transmission issues, clutch issues, axle issues, suspension issues, fuel sytem issues, dyno tune, installation, tires, etc etc etc. It adds up fast when you approach the 750rwhp number. The same for any car.

GT500 are one hell of a car... pulley tune bolt ons and you're looking at almost 600rwhp. Any camaro with 600+rwhp is on borrowed time with stock internals and rear end. |

I got my camaro for 36000, out the door!! then invested 17000.00 in the motor, trans and rear. totaling 53000.00. I think I came out ahead on this one!! faster car and i saved roughly 17000.00. this was in july 2010.... Idk if the dealerships have stopped ripping off customer with this market adjustment value crap yet or not. |
