Renewing tabs in WA state cost?

Was at the dealer and having some general chit chat with my original sales person. We started talking about money and then tab renewals came up and he mentioned that renewing tabs for the 14 SS Camaro was going to be about $500 bucks.

I was a little appalled, I thought the price for tabs went by weight of the vehicle then whatever extra fees your county tacks on. Anyone renew tabs recently can tell me what I can expect? Thanks.

My 2013 is ~$150. I do have one of the alternate plates that adds $40/yr. I can check the actual renewal when I get home. I haven't looked yet.

$500 is too much. I didn't even pay that for the initial registration.

Yes, but we have to pay extra for Sound Transit (King, Pierce, Snohomish Counties), King County Metro and something else. Without that, mine would be less than $100, too.

Last renewal on the Camaro for me was $48.75. My motorhome is $116 due in September. My boat was $120. Don't know where they get the $500 from.

Mine is $149.75 ($30 for special plate). So you can expect to pay $119.75 in King County, unless Kent has an additional fee that unincorporated King does not.
$3 filing fee
$76 RTA Tax
$30 License fee
$10 King County fee (Metro)
$.75 Computer Fee
$30 Plate Fee
-------------
$149.75 Total
