How does 'On-star' like the painted antenna?
No issues here I have had mine painted since November last year no issues with Onstar, or XM

I actually have a malfunctioning antenna and need to have mine replaced. Warranty covered. Sounds like a good time to get it painted at the same time!

Did you ever do this? I am thinking about doing the same thing vs. the removal and re-install.

Great write-up! I did this today and I wanted to add a few things.

1. This isn't easy, but it is doable. I can see why someone would charge alot to do it. I had to completely remove the seat belt and plastic cover on one side to get in there without creasing the liner. My headliner is super stiff and pulling on it was starting to crease it so I removed more to keep it from happening.
3. My arms are completely red from scraping on the back edge of the liner. I put some towels over the edge after a while and that solved that issue.
4. I can barely fit my head back there to see, be prepared for that if you do this.
5. When removing the connectors I found I had to disconnect them both from the metal tab they are attached to. There was no way I could undo them while attached. Just look for the gray clip that hold them in and slide them from those connectors. You will have to use a small screwdriver to release them though.

Thanks for the write up on this. I did a racing stripe for the first time on a customers car today, and this was key to the roof looking good. I will say that the addition of how the connectors disconnect would have been nice to know. Either way, the stripes are done and everything is back together with your help.
