Drag strip weird results

So I went to the drag strip last night with a couple of friends, it was the first time I've been to the strip since I've gotten LT headers, high flow cats and opened my entire system up to 2.5" so I was hoping to hit 14.0 or break into the 13's. So I make my first past (mind you this is a red neck track in the middle of no where, first time I've ever been there) the time slip says some weird stuff on it saying my trap was .89 and my time was 64.999. I asked them what was wrong, they told me my wheels are too shinny (I have the RS package wheels) and to try the left lane. So I try the left lane and get 15.1 with a trap of 70. The told me to rub dirty on it to make them less shinny.. There isn't any dirt around, but being in a red neck track there was a gravel road right by the stands so I go drive around there and get my wheels really dusty and try the right lane again, and got the same thing a trap of .88 and time of 64.999. I tried the left lane one more time and got 14.6 but all of the other info doesn't match up.
So at this point I just said I've had enough and left. Has anyone ever had something like this happen before? I've been to Houston speedway and Ennis (both huge tracks) and never had a problem. I'm thinking it had to be something with the track, unless something is wrong with my tune?

Definately sounds like the track's equipment wasn't working.

And don't put dirt on your wheels. I try really hard to keep my wheels and tires as clean as possible at the track (dirt/sand, etc just makes it harder for your tires to hook up).

Also

Do you have a full time slip with 60', 1/8 mile, etc? If you do you should post it so we can look at it.

60 foot 2.169, 1/8 9.4, mph 89.1, 1/4 15.12, mph 70.5

Doesn't make sense, especially the last part. That's the only time slip that has full information, the others are messed up...

Go to a track with timing equipment that works.

They have a old outdated system. Back years ago we had to shoe polish our front wheels to kill the shine or it would reflect the beam at funny angles and screw up the timers. With modern day systems the problem is gone. You just found a track with way outdated equipment.

Use dial in marker (NOT SHOE POLISH!!! it etches) to cu down the shine/reflection and your problem goes away at that track. In the old days we used to run into hat issue, the optical beam gets enough reflection to think the beam is intact when in fact it is broken. The new systems doon't have that issue, but it used to be widespread. If you have super low profile tires the beam has a hard time not being reflected back. I bet the guys with drag skinneys up front and normal tires w/some sidewall had no issue.

Try that next time & let us know how it works.
