2010 SS vs 2004 Cobra

Ran my friend back over the summer time and lost by about two cars. I was running mid 13s and he was in low 13s (90 degree weather in Louisiana). My car was stock and he has a few mods. He just had his car dyno tuned today and put down 438hp and 483tq. Not sure what all he has done, but i definately would like to be able to complete with him. Stock for stock what do yall think the race would be like?

with 438rwhp (sounds very low if he's pullied but good for boltons)your friend has about 100 more rwhp in a car that should be a couple hundred lbs lighter. Judging by how the race went though sounds like he cant drive much so i think just a couple of boltons might be enough for YOU to beat HIM. Good luck!

Yea very true about the not able to drive part. He was having a hard time launching. What we these cars rated out the factory? I thought 390hp, were they underrated? i have much respect for the Terminator and love the car. If I had to pick a second car that I would want, it would be a Cobra.

I actually ran a modded Cobra with my Camaro (Full exhaust, intake, NO tune) and we were neck and neck at the end. I'm sure a tune would help on my part.

The dynos proved that they were actually around 420-430 from the factory, at the crank of course.

03-04 Cobras would dyno 380-390RWHP stock so he has about 60hp in mods. If he learns how to drive I dont think full bolt ons will do it. You need about 90hp in mods to have about the same power to weight ratio. Cam on top of all bolt ons will surely do it. I am assuming this isnt a drop top as those cars were quite a bit heavier.

No its not the vert. so he definately has me in the weight department by i guess 300lbs. We have been trying to get to the track since it has been a little cooler lately and dry air. I know I shouldnt beat him but it is fun to try.

stock for stock 5th gen vs a 2003/04 Cobra is a pretty good race if manual with the Cobra having the slight advantage.

03/04 Cobra stock for stock vs a L99 5th gen has a bit more of an advantage.

I would line them up either way. Someone is always faster, I promise.

And he is having a hard time launching/putting the power down because of the IRS.

Someone has an 03 Terminator across town, so I'm trying to get him to go to the track with a bunch of us one night. Should be interesting...

Just had a little experience with an 03 cobra convertible. Bolt ons, pulley and tune. 470rwhp. He also had 315 drag radials out back. I believe the convertible is right at 100lbs (3660 compared to 3760-80 if I remember correctly) give or take heavier...so not a huge difference. I weigh 100 more lbs than this guy also. So the dif would be about the same in this situation.

Lets just say I would need at least a cam to match him. But it still wouldnt happen because of the 315 drag radials, they just hook and go...the car threw me back in the seat HARD. I would line up with him from a 40 roll cam only and it would be anyones guess IMO....and I am usually a very good guesstimator. A healthy h/c ls3 @ ~500 rwhp should be enough to take a bolt on/tune/pulley terminator. I would not supercharge because of the money and IMO it is always nice to beat a modded supercharged car while being NA. It does more for bragging rights.

A bolt on only L99 would get murdered by a bolt on cobra. If he has a pulley...it will be very ugly.

Thee only advantage is a supercharger running 8 psi (stock). Put a supercharger with 8 psi on a camaro and the termnator has no chance in hell.

I raced a mid 90's Cobra. By the time it was said and done I had him by 2 car lengths. I assume he was all stock too.

i have a L99 (was stock when i raced him) and raced an 03 cobra with borla stinger exhaust - not sure if there were any other mods. he barely got me - and his driving skills are prob average to a little above - talked to him briefly after the race.

so i think you are very inaccurate with saying a bolt on L99 would get murdered by a bolt on cobra. with my bolt-ons im running .4 sec faster than stock. i would take him at this point.

big difference between an 03/04 cobra vs any other year. the terminator has the s/c. i would hope you would smoke a mid 90s cobra that is stock.
