300 hp on regular gas - that's just one of the appeals of the V6.

There's no benefit of using premium when the engine is designed for regular. HOWEVER, you might want to check out http://toptiergas.com/ This site lists the gas companies that more then meet the government requirement for detergents and are recommended by GM, BMW and other. Other brands like Exxon and BP meet these detergent requirments in their premium, but not all grades. To make the top tier gas list ALL grades must meet the requirment. Shell, Texaco and Chevron are on the list and one of them should be available anywhere you are in the U.S.

Help what? If you are going to be racing 100% of the time then premium/synthetic may be the best way to go.

You run two identical cars, one with premium/sythetic and the other with regular/dino and you will not be able to tell the difference over the long run. The only thing premium fuel and synthetic is good for is making your tummy feel good and lining other's pocket with pure profit.

I don't think the government requires detergents in gasoline. I hope all realize that Chevron, Texaco, Shell are only different from the mom and pop small gas stations in additives only. And again, over the long run, this will not make any differences. I don't care to pay $.30 extra per gallon for a warm and fuzzy.

I'm taking Premium(92 in WA)... Its already going in the Suby, so wont be much change...

And for those that want some info... an 08 WRX... 21MPG average.... so the SS will get better fuel economy. This is a 2.5L 240HP car... and it only gets 21mpg.... HAH.. and they say imports have great economy.

That's on the highway.... I am sure it will burn up the swill if you dog on it.

Don't use super if not required. There is an extensive thread on this.

The government does require detergents, but they lowered the requirement several years ago. As for cost, I live in the D.C. area and travel up and down I-95 and into the mid-central region. I've never seen much of a difference between brands in the same area. The Shell station I normally fill up at is the same price as the 7-11 down the road a couple of miles. I find a bigger difference when crossing town, i.e. taxing, borders.

I run whatever the manufacturer requires/suggests. So if says its made to run on premmy, than that is what I run regardless of price and vice versa. Difference in 20c a gal is not all that much between the two at the end, gas here when I last got some a day ago was like 1.91 for 87, 93 was 2.09 or something, difference of like not even $2.
