Has your tag light lamp ever fell out?

I looked at my tag lights today and discovered the lamp fell completely out. The Wire, Bulb, AND lamp all fell out.

I triple checked and there is only 1 wire that is currently on the left lamp, and that one is fine. It works. But the lamp on the right is completely gone. There’s not even a wire that I can connect a new lamp to.

I ordered a new lamp and bulb. I guess I will have to splice into the wire so I can have power ran to the one on the right. ??

That wire is running to the lamp on the left. I have no idea where the other wire is. I looked on both sides on the hole and I also tried to fish a wire out with my fingers...no 2nd wire.

This happened to my Camaro about 3 years after I bought it and it was fixed per the TSB under warranty. The incandesent bulbs get hot and makes the bracket brittle and the lock tab would break off and it fell out. When they replaced mine I had them install the LED bulbs I furnished to they would NOT get hot and do the same thing over again. Since you can't find the second wire, you might have to remove the bumper cover to do the repair. Good luck..

Yes sir, I used to drive a lot at night, so yea they would get hot and melt stuff. Incandesent's put off more heat than LED's, they are much cooler when on.

I ordered the light housings from the dealer and replaced the bulbs with LEDs from a local auto parts shop.

Will the dealership fix it for free if I’m the 2nd owner ?

From the tsb:
SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT
This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.

Your car is over 10 years old so you'll have to buy the parts. I paid around $25 for the light housings.
