This would make the second major change coming to the 2012 Camaros, in addition to the expected revamped and improved interior.
This is very cool news. The Camaro rocks. I love it when a good thing gets even better.

Here's hoping it's an actual boost in power and not just a "less conservative rating". Seeing how they wanna beat the Mustang's 1/4 time, I imagine it will be.

Consumers stand to benefit from this competition. These two are waging war to build the best muscle car. Love it.

Looking at the picture on the homepage, it looks like they fixed the paint rubbing off under the spoiler too, oh no, I'm sure I'm mistaken, since as of this week mine will have been painted three times, I dare not say the problem will have been solved just painted three times.

The V6 is the one that loses to the Mustang V6. I agree that its the gearing. One look at the top speeds difference wil tell U somethings up.

Mustang V6 Top speed 113MPH
Camaro V6 Top Speed 157MPH
Got to keep the mpg number though and gears will hurt that. Mustang gets 31 mpg but only with the 2.73 gears not the 3.31 which makes it fast. The GT according to the one mag in the driving they did lost or got 2 mpg less then the SS and Challanger with the 3.73 gears.
But that being said offer a track pack option with 3.55 or 3.73 gears and maybe with those combos tweak the trans gears to help on gas and accel.

I would like to change mine to that but $1800 or so for gears/install and tune is steep so I will wait and see.

btw, where did those specs come from? i'd like to know the specs on that mustang and if those runs are by people or ideal perfect-run scenarios...
The one in Blue is from ROAD AND TRACK

The other one is from CAR and Driver

in the end the Mustang won because GM took a Loan from the Taxpayer

Don't hold your breath on that one. I will say that the 3.6L or 3.0L will be getting a TURBO for 2012, at least in Cadillac trim

Totally agree... the Pony Car Wars are back and the only real winner will be the consumer/auto enthusiasts!! Exciting enhancements and improvements will be coming out year after year as the Camaro vs. Mustang vs. Challenger battles evolve. I'm freakin lovin it!!

The good thing about this is that it makes both the mustang and camaro better cars. Both companies are going to leapfrog each other improving the cars which really benefits us as the buyer!

These engine respond so well to bolt ons, that pulling out more power is really quite easy to do.

I still don't see why they won't just offer us gearing options and leave the engines alone. A lower "track" geared option would easily be the equivilant of another 40 - 60 lbs/Tq and get those fast 0 - 60 and quarter mile times.

But who knows, if all they are going to do is offer a revised tune then I guess that is probably a cheaper way to go.

Good point. In the C&D specs the Mustang was running 3.31 axle 18/29 C&D observed 18
