Please convince me not to buy a mustang

I've always loved Firebirds. When I found out they were not going to make a new one based off of the new camaro I was still hoping. Now I do like G.M. and always had something against Mustangs. Problem is when I'm considering purchasing a new car I am looking at either the new Camaro ($39,100), or the new Challenger ($45,755) with the options I want. Problem with the Challenger is price and it's too slow for the price. I've lately considered the 2009 mustang as with some options a GT is $25,420 with the -$3500 Ford is offering. Now I can get a Ford supercharger for $7,029 with a warranty if I can get them to install it as part of the deal. That equals $32,449, with 550 hp and a warranty. While I would rather have a Camaro I almost think the Mustang is too good of a deal to pass up. I only wish G.M. offered the Camaro with an LS7 for 38k ish as I'd jump on that though i'd be stretching what I can afford. It's just killing me as the Mustang is such a good deal but I don't know if I could go through with purchasing one.

if you don't like mustangs don't buy one, use the $32,449 and turn your TA into a monster that could destroy any mustang.

A lot of the reasons why people are pre-ordering and going with the Camaro is because it looks the best... in my opinion its a simple taste of style! the Camaro is the sexiest car out there now no matter how you build it.

the new mustangs look terrible I dont care how much of a deal they are..

I can't blame you for considering the 'stang. There are still all alot of brand new '08s sitting on lots unsold and going for next to nothing. There's a Ford dealer by my place that has four brand new 2008 Mustang GTs on the lot going for dirt cheap. Price wise, its unbeatable. But I'm going to hang tight and wait for a 5th gen.

That would be a tough one but I would still go with the Camaro just because I am GM through and through... but get ready to be hounded on here.

I have always loved the ford mustang. Unfortuntly I have never been a fan of the 4.6 based engines which is the only reason I will not buy one. The chevy based lsx engine is in unbeatable when it comes to performance. Mod for mod the mustang is not going to be able to compete with the f-body.

Like I said I love the mustang as well but I am spending my hard earned money with gm.

I have a 402 with AFR 225 heads and fast 90/90 in my TA it's out right now but Im going to put it back in when I get off my ass. I just have the I wanna new car bug. Theres nothing like buying a new car. Only thing is it's a real lot of money (for me anyways) if I go with the Camaro or the Charger. Also with the mustang I don't have to wait for them to build it not knowing when I will be getting it or if there are wheel weights on the calipers All kidding aside though I do love G.M. I just wish the Camaro was cheaper though I dont think it's a "bad" deal just more than i wanna spend

Camaro > Mustang GT

Maybe you can get a better deal on a Mustang GT, but its still a Mustang GT. I have no interest at all in owning one.

Oh, and not to mention, if you get the mustang, no matter what you do to it, a highschool girl will have the same car...

(this is meant as a joke, if anyone gets butt hurt over this comment, then you probably drive a mustang that looks and sounds like one of the highschool girls in your area.)

Get the car that "moves you", something that you can't stop thinking about. If all that matters to you is horsepower, buy some piece of junk and put $20k into a killer motor for it. If you're not going to race it competitively, try to place a value on that extra HP. Perhaps other qualities will outweigh pure HP.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only supercharger Ford warranties is the 100 hp version from Ford Racing Parts. That would put you at 400 horsepower. So for $32.5k you would be getting a previous generation Mustang with less horsepower than a Camaro SS, crappy brakes, old-world solid rear axle, soft suspension, 5-speed transmission, small engine, cheap interior...and horrendous resale value. For the same coin you can get a sexy beast 1SS.

That being said, I checked out the new 2010 Mustang yesterday. It is such a superb car that if I decide not to purchase the Camaro I ordered when it finally arrives, I probably will buy a 2010 Mustang. They are that good.
