I noticed that they disappeared from Boston a while back and was wondering what was going on . . .

well, the good news (or maybe not so good depending on how you look at it) is you should be able to buy a used one for a pretty good price pretty soon

Avis, stopped renting them durring the winter months... I would expect them back at the beginning of summer... at least that what I keep getting told when I call Avis here in Colo.

I would not doubt this as the major reason... not a small consideration for a business that watches resale like a hawk.
