Price of YOUR Trade in???
I have a fully paid 2011 LS, and I am contemplating trading it in for a SS/RS. My car was paid out at roughly 25k or so. I was wondering what should I expect to pay in terms of the switch out? What were the details of your trade in (Miles, condition, etc.) and how much did you pay? This way I can know what to expect going into this potential purchase.

Not a Camaro but I just went to see what they would give me for a 2012 Ford Focus that was about $25k new. It had less than 5k miles on it and they offered me $17k. Hope they do a little better with your camaro.

normally they are going to give you between 3 to 5k less than what the car is worth.you would do much better selling it yourself.

I just went through the whole trade in ordeal with my 2011 camaro RS 1LT with 19k miles. At the end I decided to just hold on to my car since it wasn't worth the BS of bending my back to get into a new car. My car is not paid off but will be in few more months.
Anyhow, the highest offer I got was 22k for trade in 17k the lowest. Average was 20k. Get on auto trader website and see how much you can get through their trade in program which is guaranteed trade in offer. I got 21.5k from there, but still not enough for me. There are dealers that will offer you a good amount depending on what type of vehicle you are purchasing from them. A member got 26k for his 2011 2LT to trade in for a gt500. Any dealer here willing to offer me 24k??? I'll buy a car from you, LOL! |

I was going to trade mine in for a 08 JSB Z06, they offered a little over 28k for mine...'10 2SS/RS with tons of mods and only 11k miles. I laughed in their face and walked out.
Trade-in's do nothing but rip you off.

If you really want to upgrade, sell your camaro privately and then go buy your SS. You will loose alot on a trade.

Gotta throw my two cents in on this discussion. When I bought my 2011 SS, I told the saleman that I might be trading it in on a 2012 when they come out. He told me the time of year I do it will have an effect on my trade-in value. For example, when trading in a 4-wheel drive, you get your best price in the fall/winter, not in the spring/summer. Sports cars are just the opposite. You'll get your best price in the spring and summer, if you wait until the fall or winter, the value drops. Why? Because the demand for a sports car is lower and the chances are the dealer will have that car sitting on the lot longer.
