Talking Thinking of Getting me a Maro.. was a big big 370z FANBOY

Hello all I have been looking around and I found this great forum I love it, you guys have reviews and everything i need im a huge bolt on fan and i plan to do a camaro soon..

I am looking at the orange ss with ground package and manual trans and also 21 inch black rims from the dealer and sat In the vehicle and fell in love, I used to read a research 370z every day and want one pretty bad untill i reached the reality there to hard to work on and there not a muscle car.

So im waiting and saving, saving and waiting and dreaming every night and day about a Camaro ss. Ha everytime i see one i freak. I was driving my grandmother and mother somewhere in my explorer v8 and I saw a v6 maro in someones drive i began to scream and drove into the drive way and sat for awhile while my mothers were extremly confused as i made love to the vehicle with my eyes.

glad you're here, but just to warn you...

we have had several people come onto the boards talking about how the Camaro has 'not adequate' handling and how the 370z is better and blah blah blah. I see that you're serious about the 'maro though because you said the key words: 'muscle car'.

test drive or rent one from avis just to make sure your not an autocross junkie (like me), who doesn't understand what GM was targeting when they made the car (not like me).

Welcome! if you choose to overlook the handling (which you should). then you will absolutely love the car, just like most everyone else.

Well there are alot of Camaro fanboys here who have never driven the car or even sat in it that will tell you to just go buy it, dont pay attention to it. Overall, I like the car although it does have many faults. Weight, size and the way it handles being the biggest. However, for many people its not an issue. On the plus side, it looks great, accelerates nice in cool weather, shifts well in M mode and the seats are nice. Best thing to do is go and drive it for yourself. If they dont let you drive it, walk away.

There are also several people here who set ridiculous and unreasonable expectations for the Camaro and will be more than happy to point out all the little faults.

Chances are you will have a very hard time finding a dealer to let you drive it. They can still sell them without test drives, so they don't have any reason to offer or allow you one.

As far as Camaro handling, refer here. Shameless self-promoting hyperlink.

Depends on who you are and where you are located. Go to a lot with a few grand that only has 1 in stock and its not likely. You walk into a dealer that has 3 sitting on the lot ready to buy it outright with no financing, you bet your ass they let you drive it.

Sounds great.
A suggestion. If you plan on hitting the drag strip on occasion I'd pass on the
21'' wheel option. Yes, the look nice, but they are a lot heavier than the stock wheels and they will slow you down by a couple tenths in the 1/4 mile.

Welcome to the boards. Dont just rush out and buy this car take your time. My advice if u can take a test drive of both the V6 and V8 or rent one for a day. They are both excellent buys so dont rule out anything until you have tried them both. When buying it dont ever ever ever pay over MSRP. There are a lot of dealers charging 5-15k over sticker but you dont have to if you research long enough. The other thing is if you do order a car make sure the dealership has an allocation or you could be waiting a very long time. The hardest choice everyone struggle's with is the color choice, sunroof or no sunroof, cloth or leather or a fully loaded V6 or a base V8. Use the search option here and the wiki all the info you ever will need i promise you has been covered. Lots of great people who are here to help if its clear you have done your homework.

I agree with the people who say go drive it. Honestly, I'm barely of driving age, and I've been obsessed with the camaro since my brother had them most of my youth. I have driven some nice cars, but I had this preconception in my head that it would somehow handle better than the M6 or XKR or SL550 that I've driven, and it doesn't. For what you pay, it's a terrific car, but it's not all you might have in your head. I still love the car because of the heritage, looks, and the fun experience of driving it, but as for racing or that sort of thing, you might have been better suited in a z. If you're a pragmatist, you might not love it. It's hard to see things, the handling could be better, it feels cumbersome, and there are other complaints with it. But if you enjoy driving and cruising, you might just love it. Anyways, good luck, and I hope this car is what you want! Keep us updated.

The Camaro isn't a muscle car either; it's a pony car. True muscle cars died a long time ago.

Too bad you purchased the V6... otherwise you wouldn't be so negative in EVERY post.

Buyers remorse sucks, you obviously have allot of it.

And to the OP...get the camaro SS you won't regret it, it's in the rock star class right now and is allot of fun to drive around and get noticed in. The Nissan is just another car now.
