Supercharger installed
2011 Camaro 6.2 stick. Whipple 2.9 liter supercharger/intercooler 3.875 pulley. ID1050X Injectors. ZL1 Fuel pump. JRE fuel pump flow control module. 3 bar map sensor. 1 7/8 long tubes, no cats. 2 1/2 inch borla atak cat back. 160 degree thermostat. JRE scoop. CAI intake. 93 octane. Jannetty tune with SCT tuner
Holy Shit what fun. It's scheduled for a dyno tune 7/7/19. If you plan to run no cats I wouldn't suggest the Ataks unless you want to be really obnoxious. This thing is ear piercing ear drum rattling loud under boost. On the good side, if you do not give her boost and drive it like a gentleman it is very tame and has no drone.... Once that wastegate closes the gate of hell open and this screaming demon is released. Last edited by Greenhornet2; 06-14-2019 at 10:34 PM. |

Congrats on the build, yes boost is so much fun and at times it's hard to keep your foot out of it.

all in all it took me about 30 hours with a couple mistakes and some wasted time. The directions were sub par in a few areas to say the least. It's been a long time since I've worked on cars and I've never done a fuel injected build. If anyone else does this kit here's a couple notes...
The three hoses supplied for the pump side of the intercooler were not right... I had to cut one and completely replaced two of them, they changed the design of the reservoir and didn't change the hoses it appears. Make sure you set your rail height for the injectors mine was not set right, I didn't even realize it was adjustable and I had a fuel leak. I would also pressurize the fuel system before you set the charger to verify no fuel leaks. They send you O-rings for the intake manifold to head mating surface, they also send a set of regular intake gaskets, you do use both of these sets even though the directions are very strange and confusing at these steps. Always hard doing things for the first time. I think it would take me about 20 hours start to finish if I had to do it all over again. Any questions on this build feel free to ask! |

I know dyno tune is always preferred, but are you doing it because you’re not happy with Jannetty tune?

I am happy with the current tune, I am taking it to Jannetty to do the dyno tuning because I want to make sure everything is safe, and to get the most safe power out of it as I can. It runs smooth and had plenty of power and is responsive. I did feel a very slight break up around 5500 rpm once. Every engine is different I will post before and after once tuned, I am sure there's a decent amount of power left on the table. I assume they put it on the rich side to be safe since they cannot read what the car is actually doing.

Oh something else noteworthy. I drove it about 35 miles. mostly about 55mph. got up to an average 30.1MPG highest. dropped to 26 after a few pulls, back up to 28 by the time I got home.

Congrats on joining the FI club and kudos for doing it yourself. Nothing like driving through the gates of hell with obnoxious power!

Very nice! Yes please I would like to be more obnoxious! How much boost are you running? Did you consider a maggy heartbeat? My shop does lots of Maggie’s so I would be more comfortable with that.

Were you naturally aspirated? I was only getting 18.5 average before the charger. Whipple has an pretty ingenious design. While not under boost there is a port with a wastegate that allows the air to bypass the charger and run directly to the lower intake, less than 1hp power usage while cruising, that coupled with the very free flowing exhaust and maybe some added air from the rotors just turning might help. I barely touch the throttle and I mean barely, to keep at a steady speed. I haven't checked it manually, this is just going off what the computer is telling me I'm getting. I haven't taken it on the highway yet, I'm curious to see how it does at 70-75 in 6th

I did just look a little more into the heartbeat, it seems like a shorter install time saying 8-10 hours(take that with a grain of salt). The displacement is quite a bit smaller than the Whipple though at 2.3 liters, the Whipple is 2.9 liters. So if you decide to go big, big power you will get more out of the Whipple than the Maggy. The Whipple will support over 1,000 whp I believe. Whipple claims there is more low end power and instantaneous "hit" of power, which I can feel. Never driven one with a Maggy but it appears Whipple is superior. Last edited by Greenhornet2; 06-14-2019 at 09:29 AM. |

Yeah whipple is superior but it’s pricey. Is it double the cost?
