I ended up having to add a restriction in the hose from the valve cover to the catch can, and a pretty small one at that. You'll definitely want to keep an eye on it, there wasn't a mosquito within miles of me after that happened.

Did your valve covers have baffles?

Yep. That's why I was hoping it would be ok. The complaints I found online made it sound like it was an older design that had all the problems but it took very little time to fill the catch can. The car wasn't even up to operating temperature when it started smoking.

K1, Manley H, Diamond pistons. It's the 1300hp package. However I've been told its much more capable. I dont plan to exceed that hp level with a blower on the snout, but I may swap to turbos one day.

Horsepower Research sells a nice windage tray kit for the dart block. I picked this one up since Dart is struggling to catch up with orders and im impatient. Check for rotating assembly clearance, checked for pickup to pan clearance and got it buttoned up. Double pinned the crank pulley. Tomorrow i’ll put the rear cover, main seal, flywheel and clutch on, and drop it in.

Cant rush it. Gotta put 500 miles on it easy, change the oil. After the break in, ill swap blowers, injectors, and up the boost. Probably be a while until i hit the dyno to really turn it up.

Still not sure which intake I’m going to run.

See that's what gets me about the Dart....yet another cost extra to make it functional. Why doesnt that sort of stuff come with the block when it's pretty much essential ?

How come the crank wasnt keyed ?

The crank was keyed, however my balancer is not. So i removed the key and double pinned it.

The dart windage tray kit is an option for $150 if you want to run the stock oil pan, windage tray and pickup. The block has a -10 hole in the front if you want to run some kind of external oiling system. This is the only “extra stuff” you need to be a direct swap. This one was $139. I did have one coming from Thompson, however I was tired of waiting, since dart is backed up.

Made some progress today.

At this point I’m just waiting on the Holley intake from TMS. Also need a new upper radiator hose since I deleted the oil ‘cooler”.

Paid $27 shipped for the breather can, $20 for 10’ of -10 hose and about $25 for 4 fittings to make my own puke can. Once the intake comes in I can run the steam vent plumbing, redo my fuel feed to Y into the rails and place the regulator after the rails. Then im ready to break it in on low boost.

The $200 Champion radiator fit well. It might be 1/8-1/4 inch thicker, but still fits well overall.
