Where does this go?

It says there is a pop off cover, which I have seen on other cars, but not on a 5th gen. I’m guess you’d have to cut a hole in the bumper?

Mine does not have one either. I have the ZL1 addons version and it mounts perfect to slide between the slots. I can take a better picture if needed this is a screenshot of a video. I marked where it needed to go before I removed the front bumper to install the bracket.

That’s EXACTLY what you have to do. There’s some good write ups here if you search. The most important step is mark it BEFORE you remove the front cover and start drilling. Placement is not to far towards the outside but you don’t need it centered…it’ll look stupid. So about 12-18 inches from center…whatever you think.

Car is filthy but here are some more pics. In the first pic you can see the bolt holding the mount and the threaded insert for the hook. Maybe this will help.

This is what you need. You have to pull the front bumper and install the support with the threaded insert. Once again GM in their infinite wisdom put in the removable cover with no threaded bumper support behind the cover.

This only applies to the 2014 and 15. The 2010-13 have a different front cover. No need to cut an opening. I have the ZL1 add-ons. No cutting needed. Best options for early 5th gens tbh.

I have the ZL1 on my 2011 also no drilling. The newer camaro has to have the crash bar replaced it has the threaded hole already for mounting the Tow hook.

I went with the JDP due to being a 2013. Otherwise, had I owned a 14/15, I’d get the threaded one and swap crash bars.

Then you would have to cut a hole out of your bumper cover

My 14 1Le had a removable cover over the spot you need to drill for the insert. I can remove the hook and put the cover back on and it's like it never happened.
