Long tube headers

I have 2 inch speed engineering headers on my car had vbands welded to the collector and ypipe and the rest is borla mids to a awe axle back which is fully welded as one peice so the only clamp would be the vband and i have no leaks but next to walls and in tight blocks i can hear a ticking or almost like a clicking sound bouncing off things i checked the vband for leaks and have none also checked the mating surface to the heads no soot. Is this normal with headers first time driving a car with them?

Waiting for people with overpriced headers to comment "you get what you pay for" LOL my guess based off your explanation is the normal injector ticking from the LT motor. When I installed mine on my 14 Silverado I remember it being a little more pronounced.

Yeah, they're pretty noisy even without leaks.

A good way to test is by pressuring up your exhaust and using a spray bottle filled with some dish soap and water. Do it with the engine and exhaust cold. Get a shop vac. Clean it and configure it to blow. Tape the nozzle into one tailpipe and seal the other (tape or a bag or latex glove or whatever). Spray the soap and water on every joint and the head. It's the easiest way I know to find leaks.

I have Borla mids, IMO, this is not a Borla issue, it is an issue with anything that replaces the two small flex joints in the system. My exhaust does vibrate now, sometimes at idle I can hear the rear rubber hangers making noise as the flex. I kind of knew it was going to happen and will weld in at least one flex joint. Without at least one we are talking about a rigid system from engine to tailpipe, hence the factory put in two flex joints. So this is any issue with any aftermarket system that starts or has pipes that replace the factory twin flex joints.

I installed kooks and same thing I hear a ticking, I think its just the nature of the beast. On a side note, theres alot of rattling coming from my motor, like npp rattle but up front. I think it might be the stage 8 locking washers rattling as they weren't all tight. Could that be it maybe?

Normal. Headers are thinner than the stock manifolds. You are hearing either the exhaust pulses or the thinner metal expanding and contracting.

IMO, the removal of the two factory flex-joints with the Borla mid-pipe is the issue, you basically have a solid 1 piece exhaust, the ticking etc is caused by the exhaust expanding and vibrating. It is a potential issue with all aftermarket systems at the mid-pipe (all that I know of).
