My Trunk won't latch closed!

2012 2 LS

My trunk will not close and latch.

When I pulled groceries out of the trunk they might have snagged on the emergency release.

Any ideas on what I need to look at?
Is there a way to reset the emergency release?

I've been searching and have not found any answers.

Can anyone help?

Mine does that occasionally if i hold the release button too long, just hit the release button again and it should latch then.

So this is very strange, No matter what I did it wouldn't latch closed.
Tossed the trash bags in the trunk, drove 3/4 mile to the trash center, threw out the trash and closed the trunk. THUNK!!! it closed and latched!
Opened and closed it a few times, no issues, went home turned it off and tried a couple more times - no issues.

My battery is from 2011 when I bought the car - could this be a battery issue since I don't drive the car that much?
