L99 lifter tick

So just notice the lifter tick or piston slap on cold start up it does car away but just curious if I should be concerned and since my car is not under warranty if gm would fix the issue since it is a problem with the afm lifters being faulty I would prefer to not have to pay out of pocket for this since it is a common issue that gm knows about

Outa warranty...outa luck....unless you researched it back in the day,you would have never known there was a TSB....Chevrolet sure didn't broadcast it. Untold numbers never knew or was told...its normal. in your favor, it's not catostrophic

My '10 SS L99 has never made a lifter noise. Make sure you change your oil OFTEN.
I've done 16 oil changes in 10 years. Like Hunter 1660 says any lifter noise should
not be a problem. Again, keep your engine oil clean and you should be OK imo. My
SS just turned 60,000 miles.

There was a TSB, and no, you're no longer covered under warranty.

This was a "feature" on millions of GM engines with a faulty AFM lifter design. There's an upgrade that you can have installed, but it will cost you over $2,000.

I can't attest to the longevity of engines without the fix, because I had mine replaced under warranty years ago.

If you're not trying to spend a bunch of money on it too soon you can try to add some Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer during the oil change and it helps a lot with lifter noise. It's not a fix but a temporary patch
