VVT 2 cam question

hey guys. I was looking at getting this cam next year. I am making a list of stuff I need. The question is this. Is this cam to big for a dayly driver and would it need a stall.... If so has any one used the VVT 1 cam and what kinda gain could one expect.

I plan to have LT headders with cats, full exhaust, CAI or varram intake, oil catch can, and underdrive pully on the car before I buy all this stuff. Also, who offers a can tune they can email me to get the car running so I can drive it to a DYNO.

Guess I can swap the oil pump wile I am there to.. thanks guys..

What are the specs for the cam? Are you a manual or LS3?

you can drive the car without a tune to the shop, in most cases. what cam are you talking about? variable valve timing cam? we need specs to help. and he meant is it manual or automatic, ls3 or l99

you really cannot buy a mass produced cam that you cannot drive on the streets. there is no demand for them

TSP L99 VVT Camshaft Package

base price $804.99
item# 25-L99VVTCamKit

|Share

Your Choice of Camshaft, PRC Spring Kit, and Hardened Chromoly Pushrods This package will include the following items:
  • Your L99 camshaft of choice (Designed To Work With VVT Phaser & REQUIRE REMOVAL OF AFM LIFTERS)
  • PRC Double Spring Kit
  • Texas Speed Hardened Chromoly Pushrods Camshaft Featuring TSP Lobe Profiles
  • Comp Cams Phaser Limiter Kit
Texas Speed is one of very few companies that is able to test & properly develop L99 camshafts using the camshaft phaser. As a result it's very important that we do not release the entire specs of each L99 camshaft. If you have additional questions about sizes & recommended use please give us a call!!

These TSP L99 camshafts are custom designed for applications where the AFM lifters are being removed. By removing the AFM Lifters we are able to run lobes similar to what the LS-3 engines run. The result is approximately 15 extra horsepower compared to the AFM friendly lobes!!

All L99 TSP camshafts require the use of the Comp Cams Phaser kit (included in L99 Cam Packages)

If you are going to run our TSP VVT camshaft without AFM, you will need the AFM/DOD delete kit. This kit will include an LS3 timing chain dampener, 8 new LS7 lifters, LS3 lifter trays, GM LS3 cylinder head gaskets, GM LS3 cylinder head bolts, LS2 valley cover, PCV hose, PCV plug, and a TSP camshaft swap bolt and gasket it. You can replace all 16 lifters with new GM LS7 lifters for an additional $70!

this is what I was looking at. dont reall have specks

On TSP's website it says mid 220's int.duration, nothing about exh. Duration, 620ish lift and you should use an after market converter.

Also you need to send the ECM to TSP for the cam phasing tables before you drive it,included when you purchase a VVT cam from TSP. After that it is tuned just like any other LS engine. Do your self a favor and call TSP and talk to Jason he will be able to point you in the right direction.

If he is getting a VVT cam then it would be an auto(L99) since the manual's(LS3) do not come with VVT. I had the Mast Stage II VVT cam installed last year.

It has the following specs.
224/238 .578/.593 115 LSA

If you get the VVT cam from TSP they provide a tune for it. You will need the DOD delete kit and phaser limiter to run it. You may also want to upgrade the springs while you are at it.

I just had the VVT cam taken out and replaced with a LS3 style that is more friendly with the turbo. I will be selling the Mast VVT cam along with the Comp phaser limiter if you are interested.

I know I had posted a video on here. I will look for it so you can hear what it sounds like but I can tell you it is not too choppy.
