You see this yet? ZL1 exhaust so loud the airbags go off

Yeah I'm just as surprised as you are

Here's the video -

Here's the article - http://www.carscoops.com/2017/05/yik...-exhausts.html

Never heard of airbags going off because of a loud exhaust before, but I would have been scared to death for a second there.

If you watch the video he explains that the dumps are pointed directly at the area where the side airbag sensors are located. I learned years ago to run it out the back or out the sides.

He'll learn the first time the motor lets go and oils the tires down. I learned that the hard way.

It was exciting. Didn't hit anything thankfully as the motor let go on a country road (In Mexico) and it simply spun into the field.

I have watched quite a few of his videos, surprised he still has a drivers license, in Mexico. I would like to see the total dollars he spent on his 2013, that is a pretty sweet ride.

Driving like that on the STREET. I doubt it will be very long before DRIVING a car is a problem for this guy. Airbags or no airbags.

Just noted.... MEXICO.

Never mind.

Well, I guess I was lucky. I ran cutouts that dumped in just about the same location as this car on a cammed LS3 for 20K miles before I sold the car and the airbags stayed where they belonged. Just like his car I never went to a car show or cruise in or even around town and ran into any car louder than mine. Too loud really for daily use. Honestly now that I have been there and done that - I'm quite happy with the NPP exhaust on my gen 6 and I don't have to worry about the airbags.

That's what you get for using a no weeds system. I know I might get hate for it, but I think all exhaust diverters are extremely dumb in practice. Low tech, all about making the most annoying loud sound possible. You're also bypassing your catalytic converters in the process. In many states, they will fail you on inspection for having it since obviously it's about on par with somebody running a straight pipe.

Invest in something like a Borla system where it's actually well engineered, legal, and carefully designed for acoustics versus just dumping the raw exhaust note.

And also... at least buy your girlfriend a proper set of earplugs. :P

He's just a dumb kid but of all of our available options on youtube, I'd take him. I give him props for already having a cage and making his 5th gen a beast. You just have to remind yourself of his audience. He makes material that appeals to the masses which is why he's been successful.

On the Noweeds 6th gen kit, it's after cats and just before muffler. It's essentially a muffler delete. You could certainly integrate with a Borla or whatever system and have race car loud on demand...

Calling the guy dumb is a bit overboard I think. It wasn't that long ago when you could go to the store, buy some steel tubing, fabricate your own straight pipes in a couple hours, throw them into your Camaro, and it was neither illegal or dangerous. And no airbags deployed.

Since 1967 kids all over America have bought the Camaro for the good old American way: loud and fun.

Yeah you're right. It sounds a little harsh in type.
