Slicks would be easier on the drivetrain parts. Wheel hop from street tires skyrockets the loads on things like axles and ring and pinion. Something rated for 1000 hp, might actually see loads way above that if a car dead hooked and wheel hopped on basketball like street tires.

I've seen cars run huge power through slicks without a problem. Then one bad launch on street tires and parts are flying.

Although with that much HP, you likely would break any kind of rear axle or differential eventually.
Yeah never going to happen were talking about money people

Wheel hop can kill all kinds of parts. Its just like hitting them with a sledgehammer.

It sucks they broke, but I am sure you know with a 6 second car, if you try hard enough, you can break anything.

Time for some failure analysis.

(Street tires) + (700+HP) + (only 1000HP rated axles) = asking for trouble. You fail 2 out of 3.

there was no wheel hop or tire shake, so talk of wheel hop is irrelevant in my case.

Do they offer shaft kits with less (larger) splines?

That seems to be the failure

732 RWHP, stick shift, IRS, street tires, 4500 rpm launch.... and it has never wheel hopped?

I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

I've seen some tracks prepped where they VHT the crap out of it and people are breaking driveshafts and axles left and right. And those can be the best parts on the market. There are so many variables to the actual shock load that hits drivetrain parts, I just don't think it's cut and dry that 1000 hp axles will always handle 1000 hp. I'd bet I could break them with stock hp.

your disbelief that my car had no wheel hop has me puzzled. both of my cars (2010 camaro and 6 second car) are carefully setup properly.
perhaps your hooptie has wheel hop?

Not to be a smart ass , but it will only be a matter of time when people start getting sick of spending big money on these independent parts that are going to kept breaking. If you stick with independent suspension, the only solution is that people spend about $7500.00 in parts, bunch of money in labor and put automatics in which is another $6000 to $7000 . Sorry guys but this is the obvious.
