In too high of an rpm often? Of course. More wear and tear.

I do it all the time, habit from road course racing and I only drive the Camaro when I'm out to play. My Camaro backfires atleast once when I get back on the gas coming out of the corner, likely due to the cam and lack of cats.
I however do not downshift just to stop. I do it to maintain high rpm's while braking into a corner so that when I apex it I can get back on it hard. Sent from my iPhone

Not as long as you raise the rpm's so you are not causing wear on the clutch. If the clutch comes out and makes the engine rpms come up you are not doing it corectly.

Brake pads are cheaper than clutches.

Not to thread jack, but what about for the automatic trannys? I do this sometimes when I want to rev and hear my exhaust and supercharger whine rev on down to the lower RPMs.
I've always figured it would probably cause the car to run a little rich since the exhaust does pop a little more, but I have no data right now to prove it. |
