So what everyone is saying is that you can't compare the GT500 to a Camaro SS, and not to a Vette...........so what then do you compare it to? A SRT-8? Give me a break.......GT500 is in the same class as a base model Vette.

mmm... HP-wise yeah, but thats really about it. There's just not much that you can really compare the GT500 to... tis why the Z28 needs to come back

You keep saying the same crap over and over again in different threads. Why don't you help us out and explain how you are coming up with what "class" of automobile each car should belong to. Are you basing it on the power ratings? Interior volume? Seating capacity? Design intent? Market segment? Demographic target?

Car classification is pretty subjective, but please, enlighten the rest of us.

No kidding the GT 500 will beat the camaro. You should be comparing the GT500 to a Z06 vette. the camaro ss competes against a Mustang GT.

since the gt-500 is a ford car with a 3rd party name on it I think we should compare it to likewise camaros.

Nickey Camaro, SLP Camaro..... and btw no one cares if its built by svt, shelby put his name on it therefore it should be compared to other 3rd party names.

svt built and tuned the car. the shelby name is just a name on the factory gt500. if you want to do a 3rd party comparison then you can do the super snake and a nickey or slp since shelby does tune the car in that instance (super snake).

But why would GM even want to build a Z28 when, by your reasoning, it already builds a direct competitor to the GT500 with the base Corvette?

Yep, the GT500 is built in a Ford Factory, and warrantied just like all factory cars from Ford. Aftermarket tuner cars are a whole different ballgame.

well I like to compare Gm Ford And Chystler in one group, and Shelby, SLP, Foose, Hennesey, Nickey, LMR seem to all fit into another group. A "Shelby GT-500" seems it should be associated with the latter.

If you guys wanted to compare it to an SS or an SRT it seems to me it shoulda been a SVT - Cobra or something similar.
