LS3 Cltuch Replacement - Help

My dad has a 2010 with an LS3 and needs a clutch. BAD. He had back surgery and the just had wrist surgery (gotta love motocross.... lol) and needless to say he cant do anything with it for about 6 weeks. I'm going to steal his car tonight and replace the clutch in it - just going to do an OE one. I'm looking to you guys to help me speed up the process. I'm wondering if there are any especially hard bolts to get to or 'tricks' to anything that I should know? Just really pressed for time this weekend but I know it would really help him out.

Thanks fellas!

I wouldnt waste your time with another factory clutch but its a pain on jackstands and you have to lower the motor/trans to get to the bolt at the very top of the bellhousing

Sounds like I might need to be getting the Cobra off the lift then.... yay...

What do you mean "lower the motor" - Can you please expand on this a little?

Also why wouldnt you waste your time with an OE clutch? Lasted 72k miles? lol

You will need to get the car about 18" off the ground to get it done, not a bad job at all. I used a 4ft extension, 3/8" impact with impact swivel for the top bellhousing bolt. Once the trans mount is removed just lover the trans, you will see that top bolt pretty clear, just need that extension to get at it.

Ok so the usual then. That's no big deal. Just making sure there were no tricks. I did a trans in a Grand Prix GTP once and needed to buy 6- 6" extensions (in addition to all the other ext's i had). You had to get a bolt on the driver side, and had to go through the passenger side wheel well to get it. 6" at a time because any longer and you couldnt get it in there, so you basically had to 'build' an extention inside the car. lol That's the kinda BS i wanna make sure i'm not getting into. Thanks for the advice guys. Approx how many hours? I'm budgeting a long afternoon/evening? - No beer drinking or BS.

I just did mine, all the tips above are good, also let the engine rest on the crossmember when your taking out the trans, it will get you some more room. There's not much clearance between the bell housing and the firewall but if you turn the trans on its side a little it will come out easier. The shifter is annoying but I took off the knob and unbolted it from underneath. Just take off all the rubber shifter boots and it will slide out. Not a bad job overall. Btw if you haven't picked up a OEM clutch yet, I have one that looks new with only 8k on it.

you can get to all of them easy with a 15mm wrench if you remove the intake manifold.
