I would get my kid a used Honda for 10g or less. They are reliable, easy to work on, great on gas, and cheap. If they want a 300+hp car, then they can save up for the rest of the car.

the reason i post it was because a whole lot of guy in nc love to put fart cannons and ugly bodykits on their hondas. but hondas are good car there just not meant to race unless its a s2000 or a NSX

Well that's a little narrow minded. There are a lot of clean hondas out there that can also run 13's comfortably with their 4banger. I had one, and also an RSX that ran 13's all motor. Let me find a pic

yeah, thats true but do you see more of the serious tuners like them are do you see the guys with the body kits and no engine mods driving around.
