Has anyone broke the ZL1???

I'm here every night for the most part and have been keeping an eye out for broken parts, either I miss it or there are none. I plan to add an ADM 427 to the mix this winter and wanting to prepare for any possible carnage. Some of you big HP guys beat the hell out these things and drive them home as if you just left the grocery store, no worries. This car is a brute and that's part of the reason I bought it. Wanted to put money into building HP not beefing up the drivetrain like my 94 Z28 I used to have. Any input would be greatly appreciated. If there is a post already, simply point me in that direction. Thanks!

I've heard mixed reviews on clutches. Seems if you keep from slipping them too much they are fairly durable. I'm coming up on 10,000 miles and it still feels like new.

The Drag Racers have been hard on them, other than that the well known rearend (noises) and supercharger issue all have which been taken care of I haven't seen anything major. There are however some defective drivers!!!!!, luckily few and far between.

Heck, even the noisy ring and pinion guys don't seem to be breaking.. And to me a clutch going out is not breaking either.. just a wear item.. These cars are pretty tough.. that's why I bought it.. Can't go wrong

I have over 20K on my car and still have my original clutch. Then again, I don't drag race the car.

The car isn't hard on clutches, drivers are hard on clutches. I don't know of anyone on here that has beat their clutch as hard as I have!!! 3 seasons at the drag strip, 200 passes most at 750rwhp. 10000 miles on the car and the clutch never slips. Last Friday I hot lapped 3 10 second passes launching at 5000rpm with slicks.

It is incredible the beating these cars are taking with hardly a whimper.

It really is!! My engine is coming out in the next few weeks to have a Callies stroker crank, rods and pistons installed. I'm going to get them to send me some pictures of the clutch, I'm curious myself!! If it wasn't for the stroker crank I wouldn't touch the engine!!

45,000 miles on the stock clutch and still going but I don't drag race. Just spirited, a little aggressive driving and the occassional 4th gear pull aways from Challengers, Mustangs, and the occasional older guys who want to test their stingrays.
