Procharged Z/28

Anybody using a Procharger? How do you like it and what size blower are you using?

AZ Charlie has a supercharged Z/28, he'll have good information for you. This can be done but proceed with caution.

someone here has a Whipple on his Z/28...also an Edelbrock Supercharger on another. I haven't seen a procharged Z/28 yet.

I would only go with a whipple. I wouldn't put a Procharger you will not like it as much plus the Whipple looks like it came with the car from the factory. I am getting ready to put my heads and cam package I got recently.

This 100%! The Procharger just looks like an afterthought, whereas the Whipple looks like a stock unit.

A big advantage of a procharger, vortech, or Magnuson heartbeat is that they would fit under the factory hood with no changes necessary to the heat extractor or drip tray. I do believe that Whipple sells a carbon fiber heat extractor though if you decide to go that way.

Isn't the LS7 a timebomb when it comes to boost?

It can be done, but the builder has to use caution because of the thinner cylinder walls, among other differences from the LS3. This is why the ZR1's LS9 is based off of the LS3 and not the LS7. I've heard anything over 8lbs. of boost and you're asking for trouble.

so i guess my question then is... Is the power from 5lbs of boost worth the cash? whats the power to cost ratio

I think with a good set of heads, cam, headers and intake. I will let you all know soon as I get all my stuff installed.

Having this work done to the Z/28 makes the car twice as fun! If you are in Miami you definitely want to go to the same place my car was done:
Call Redline Motorsports in Pompano Beach, FL
1931 NW 40th Ct, Pompano Beach, FL 33064
Phone: (954) 703-5560

Here is the youtube video they did on my car:
