This happened to me as well, although I have a V6 engine.

Yup. There are a few threads on this. I think the issue is with contaminated clutch/brake fluid. It's happened to me several times with quick launches.

Here's the fix... Separate the clutch and brake reservoirs by installing a seperate clutch reservoir. Then change the clutch fluid regularly so you don't get alot of clutch dust contaminating the fluid. I did this before I ever started racing my car and I've never had a problem in nearly 100 launches at the track. I just change my clutch fluid after every track day. it only takes a couple of ounces of fluid. I also use Motul RBF600 fluid. The reservoir is GM part # 92065790

Diaphragm type clutches will do that if the diaphragm spring goes "overcenter". Reducing clutch pedal travel slightly to prevent excessive disengagement will usually cure it.

happens to me at least once everytime i race it too! I went to the track last friday and everytime i get less than 1.90 60ft it tries sticking. Ive noticed when i launch it hard it sticks and its when i get my best 60 ft times. It sucks!!! I ran a 1.92 and 1.95 60 ft and no problem. I got a 1.82 60ft and of course it happened but i got lucky this time bc the spring behind the clutch pedal popped it out all the way before i had to shift 2nd.
I do flushes after everytime i race the car also. I use Super Dot 4 brake fluid from GM and it doesnt do it as easily. Im still on the lookout for separate clutch reservoir but the GTOs are on back order. I also heard that you can use a reservoir from a older honda civic. is this right?
I also am planning on getting a line lock because when i do burnouts it seems to happen more often. I street race a good bit and if i do a rolling burnout like dumping clutch and spinnin the tires until it grabs and not holding the brakes, that it doesnt stick on me. I did that the other night and it did not stick once on me! It makes sense because the clutch is engaging with me putting my foot on the brakes, which is putting pressure on the drivetrain.

With a separate clutch reservoir and a line lock i will hopefully not have to deal with this anymore!!!
