You let her off the hook and THAT will screw up her life.

You don't give people who break the law a "pass".

You let illegal activity slide, and people will learn that they can do illegal things without repercussions. Most likely if you let her off the hook, she will not learn a thing and could slide further into crime.

The best thing you can do for her is to turn her in.

Tough love, man!

Good luck!

i agree with the masses, do not let this slide, if she was some rich bitch then that can back up the ill pay you for it. but if shes at a dead end, your gonna be a very old man before seeing the full money to pay for that car. press charges, have the insurance cover it and let this be a lesson to her and her bro to not **** around with other peoples shit

Does anybody read the reply's, or just the OP and then respond to it?

Page 2, post number 35. That was page 2 and we're now on 7 and people are still telling him what he should do.

I don't know how familiar any of you are with former military only banking and insurance company USAA, but as of just before I came back to write this post USAA my loan and insurance company informed me that I now have a 0 balance on my loan and if when I when I get home I want another Camaro It would be as simple as picking a color. Pending then mailing me a bunch of paperwork to sign of course.
Good for you; good choice.

With USAA you build the car on their website where you get all sorts of military and government contractor discounts, then whatever the the price comes to be every dealership carrying the chevrolet name has to honor that price.

I will try to work it down on my own first and if they dont go low enough then i will give them the quote and the middle finger.
Which shop in Fl? I live in Kingsland and get my work done at EFI Alchemy.

Thank you for your service to our country. I pray for your safe return and another Camaro of your dreams.

Regarding your totaled Camaro, you made the right decision, brother!

The parents wanted to protect their precious little girl, but couldn't/wouldn't put up the money. Tough.

As if waking up in Iraq was not bad enough, I had the pleasure of waking up to a email about how I needed to call The friend/former friend, that I trusted to take care of my car while I am deployed. So before I was even able to brush my teeth this morning I was told my car had been totaled. As the story goes he let his troubled sister come stay with him after their parents put her out, and she and her equally retarded boyfriend decided that it would no big deal to take my car just around the block to the store. Somehow just around the block turned into across town. They actually had driven my car so long that there was now a need to put more gas in it so big brother wouldn't find out. While leaving the gas station parking lot the little sister who has never driven anything but her hand-me-down honda civic, got on the gas too much, spins out, hits another car, stalls, and then is t-boned. Car totaled.

This is where the story gets really fun. Once the cops get there, the story is the car belongs to a friend of the family and they had permission to drive it. Tickets are written, insurance exchanged, but no one goes to jail. .....HELL NO. Because the police report says They had permission, my insurance company is now denying to pay for the car, because as anyone who has put a vehicle into storage mode knows, that car can't be driven. They did however inform me that if I was to call the police station and tell the officer to change the report to reflect the car being driven without my knowledge or permission, then all is fine in insurance land and they will pay the car off as soon as they get the new report.

Back to aforementioned former friend. I have had the pleasure of speaking to him and his entire family all pleading with me not to say that their baby stole my car because it will ruin her life and she doesn't deserve that for a mistake. ARE YOU F_ING SERIOUS. They have politely offered to make her pay for my car however long it takes. Really...really. I'm grown with great credit and a 6 year military work history and I had to practically sell some a$$ to buy this car, where is a unemployed 18yr old going to get 35,000.

I am however slightly sympathetic because I was young once, got into trouble and the second chance given to me is why I am not in jail. What do you guys think.
If the parents care that much they can beg borrow or steal and get me the money. You should not pay for someone elses mistake sorry I never messed up even remotely like that. Parent's should handle litle babies mistake and she can pay them.

Ok i cought up on the situation , and you did the right thing. Trust me you allready got burned once.

Even if you thought the parents could pay they may just stall you long enough to where you cant legally do anything and say F you. Its horrible that this happened but 35K is not a small sum of money and if you ever wanted to drive a nice car when you got back a payment plan would not likely work.

The parents really had no right to be mad at you and especially send those spam emails to you (which if you have time i would send right back and maybe get some guys on base to send to them and maybe even a some virus's just in case lol).
