You can do a 1SS vs 2SS comparison on the "Build & Price" link on the Chevrolet website. Didn't think it was that much of a difference, but it is.

No. The red/white badge issue is completely separate from the 1SS/2SS issue. The color of the factory installed "SS" badges has no bearing on whether you have a 1SS or 2SS - it simply denotes RS or non-RS package. Red badge = RS package. White badge = non-RS package.

Of course, you have proven that this guideline can be "faked" quite easily. Just watching your car go by I would assume you had a SS without the RS package, unless you were going slow enough for me to notice the body-colored roof ditches, shark fin, etc. To know if you had a 2SS, I would have to look inside your car. No big deal really - you still have a balls-to-the-walls Camaro SS... that much we know.

My shark fin is black.

It does match my stripes

Best most accurate way is 5th digit in VIN
J = 1SS AUTO
S = 1SS MANUAL
K = 2SS AUTO
T = 2SS MANUAL.

I am big on watching guages for constant data. That way when one moves from the norm, you know where it should be usually and know when something is off. So I will try for 2SS and if I end up 1SS, will add the four pack.
The PO for my car (1SS/RS) added the 4 pack gauges. I hear they are plug and play, so I can be done if you want to save a few grand by not going 2SS. If you get a 12 or newer, you get a few upgrades over the earlier cars (FE4 suspenaion being the best one). Good luck!

Leather interior is the quick way to tell. Now -- that said - I've seen some people add leather after they bought their cars. Look for the gauge package below the radio - a 2SS will have gauges - a 1SS will not.
hehehehehehe I dunno....I had 4 pack gauges from dealer in wife 2012 IBM 2lt ....
