Delivery mileage
What is the typical mileage on a new 1le when its delivered to the dealer. I was advised that these cars normally have 11 miles due to a 10 mile round trip for the hood wrap. Could someone confirm this?
Thanks |

Mine only had 13 miles on it when I got it. When a new car gets delivered to a dealer they have to "prep" it. This means there's a mechanic at the dealer which has to verify all the lights work and such as well as drive the car. All of the dealers I worked for in the past did this and they generally had a specific route which is no more than five miles long, generally speaking. On top of these 5 miles the car was on a dyno as it came off the end of the line then it was parked in a huge parking lot before being driven onto a rail car for the ride to the dealer.
So the short answer is: Any new car you buy is going to have between 10 and 20 miles on it before anyone sees it on a retail lot for sale. Anything over that "generally" comes from people test driving the car. Why? Did you're have a ton of miles on it? Anything under 6k can be sold as a DEMO unit. At least, I think it's about that number.

Mine had 21, but I live in knoxville, TN and the car was in Atlanta, GA. It was put on a trailer and trailered back to Knoxville for delivery.
