So why even spend money on a filter.....
I looked at the vararam you were referencing. Idk why anyone would pay that much for an intake lol....

Well stick with your stock 'modded' box. Leave the good parts to others who pay to play. CAI is really at the bottom in the world of mods. Seems like you need a K&N CAI.

I cut all the waffles out of the lid on my 2012. Ported it up a bit. I like to use GM junk and modify it. I still have the stock filter housing on my C6 today lol It is just fiber glassed up to fit my needs.

What I'm really saying though is, I'll dump 5k-10k into a supercharger/turbo before I ever spend $400-$500 on a vararam intake lol. Like you said, CAI is at the bottom for mods lol. You see about the same results out of pretty much all name brand intakes. $200-$300 more worth for the same outcome? That sounds more like an ego booster, than a mod boost But yea, K&N is probably more up my alley.

Right lol, seems to be that way. But knowing she's breathing a little easier is enough for me.

I just looked on the fast list of modded cars and dont see anyone running a stock air intake.
I also race in the modified class at CamaroFest and dont see anyone running one either.

In the not so recent past, this was not uncommon. The G8/GTO folks would alter the stock box. Called it the 2 hole mod. Simlply cut a 2-3" hole in the box and add a k&n drop in.

Dunno where the hell you see 400 and up for a Vararam CAI. Mine was not anywhere close to that. CAI is right at 400 but I only paid 350 for my Vararam and that also came with filter cleaner too.

I bought a very slightly used Cold Air Inductions brand unit from a member parting out his Camaro on this site. 1/2 price at $200 in the classified section. I was not expecting much but I was instantly pleasantly surprised! It did more than I ever expected. Absolutely better throttle response, better torque and pull. Sounds better under heavy throttle and looks great. My car just responded really well to it.

I just checked out the Holley Intech cold air intakes. Really clean looking 1 piece tube, and less hose clamps vs others. Pretty pricey tho'.

There’s a very clean looking Cold Air Inductions brand setup for sale right now in the classifieds section. He’s asking $230. I’d snatch it up.
