No computer = no moving? L99
Hi all. Some may know I destroyed my engine and it has been parked for a good part of a year. I have pushed it in and out of my garage a few times. I since took out, and unplugged the fuse box and computer in hopes to "clean" up the engine bay and paint. The last time I (we) tried pushing it in the garage, it won't budge. The tires do have air. The transmission is in neutral. It is an L99 car (automatic). Any thoughts?
I have welded the spot weld holes and almost have the drivers side ready for paint. Not sure what to do about the messy side. But, I need to be able to push this thing into the garage to paint. Thanks for any help! |

Rust on the rotors I would think, after mine sits for couple days you can hear the "free up" when I back out the first inch then all is fine

Yea, since I blew my engine a few weeks ago my rotors are totally covered in rust and look like orange ass. Not having a garage sucks. I suspect davidscamaro is correct btw.

Give it a little back and forth if it's the rotors.

They are rusty. They were after a week of sitting I think. lol But, they have been rusty for MONTHS and I still was able to push it. Granted, it's a heavy pig for one, even 2 people, but doable. Now the thing won't even "rock". My wife, as we speak, is arguing about it. She says it's the computer being taken out.

I would guess it's rust on the rotors as well, but if she's going to sit for a while (provided you have a paved driveway with no garage) you might invest in these:

Jack one corner of the car up at a time and try to rotate each tire/wheel to see which one(s) won't turn?

I would throw the computer and fuse box back in and see what happens. After all there are safety lockouts that are solenoid controlled.

My thoughts. Pads can rust to rotor and it takes a significant amount of force to break free. E- brake shoes may have rusted too.

It's rust , transmissions that are shifter style aka "not button or dial activated" like in the camaro can be put in to any gear or neutral with no power. Hell even on a bench out of the car you could use vice grips to change gears on the transmission.
