Stock Subwoofer Question
Is the stock subwoofer on the convertible connected to the stock amp if not is it possible to have it connected to an aftermarket amp?

It is powered by the factory amp. You can replace it, but you’ll have to cut the factory connection off to hook up a new sub. The factory amp is not powerful enough to push a aftermarket sub. I did a kicker free air sub in the factory spot with a alpine 5 channel amp. Not going to win any competition but it’s good enough for me at my age now.

Are the 4 speakers also connected to the factory amp? Also, the stock sub is 10 inches right?

Ok I’m a little lost Bc I have two of you saying something different. Will I have to connect the 4 speakers to the amp? Or are they already connected to the amp?

I just finished replacing all speakers (10” sub) and added 5 channel JBL amp. One channel dedicated to the sub. I left the factory head unit for now. I recommend the the factory amp replacement kit from ********. Makes wiring super easy! I’m not sure where you plan on mounting a 20” sub. I mounted a replacement jbl sub by drilling new holes in the stock housing. You would have to do quite a bit of cutting to add a 20. Not sure you would need it either, but just my opinion.

Sorry for the hijack but I didn't see anywhere else that had this info.
If I've installed a ******** box in the trunk, does it benefit me (other than weight savings) to remove the stock sub from behind the rear seat? I'm not sure how sound works and if having the stock sub still there (but unplugged) would help or hurt. |

Where is the amp located ?
Can you replace the amp without taking the radio united out ? Do you access the sub though the trunk or just by taking the backseat out? I actually just posted to try to find out how to take back back seat out: https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showt...4#post10995744
