So my son asks me.....Can that Vette Beat Your Camaro?

Was getting back into the car with my 17 year old son and a 2005 Vette pulls up and he was asking me if my car would beat it. I told him that the Camaro does have the same engine as some Corvettes, depending on what year they were, its possible.
I wasnt sure about the year the Vette was made until I was backing out, his vanity plate gave it away.
So stock vs stock, what year/model of Vette would you say a 5th Gen could statistically beat?

the thing about vettes is that they are little lighter ( c6), a Z06 is WAY lighter.

i think for the most part any newer looking one is going to have a stock SS beat or very close. c6 vette

So a Vette without concealed headlights (2004?) would probably beat the 5th Gen SS?

I own a 2004 Z06 and I would not pick on it with my 2011 2SS/RS. Hands down the Vette is a different animal. The Z06 is much lighter, and very nimble. But - for a high performance car with a usable back seat the Camaro has it beat. They are both dressed with killer looks right from the factory. Honestly I love them both equally, and drive the Camaro a helluva lot more.

2005 corvette's are known to have weak differentials so you could possibly beat one if his rearend breaks lol but id say 2005 and up the vette has the win. if it was an auto LS1 vette (97-04) convertible w/ 2.73's you got em.

BUT... you do have the better engine. LS3 ftw

By a lot too.

My C6 has a curb weight of 3208 lbs......my SS has a curb weight of 3900 lbs. The math is easy to do.

I agree.....in fact, mine (each with their respective mods) are a very close race side by side.

A C5 auto would be no problem for an LS3 camaro, the camaro would edge it out, the C5 stick would be a drivers race. A C6 forget it.... the camaro will hange from a slow roll for a bit then start to fall behind.

A lot of these this (stock) vs that (stock) can be answered by the HP/Wt ratio. Yeah, there are some advantages with gearing and suspension but if the HP/Wt ratio isn't even close then you have your answer...
