My recent 1LE pictures

I hope I don't get into trouble posting this in multiple locations but thought you guys would also like to see some of the pictures I took on my recent trip to Borrego Springs California. (mods have mercy on me if I have transgressed)

On the 78 coming out of Julian. Nikon D5200 w/ Tamron 24-70 @ 56mm f/16 1/100sec ISO 500

Yaqui Pass Rd turn off. Nikon D5200 w/ Tamron 24-70mm @ 24mm f/16 1/50sec ISO 100

Yaqui Pass Rd turn off. Nikon D5200 w/ Rokinon 14mm f/16 1/400sec ISO 100

Montezuma Valley Rd. above Borrego Springs. Nikon D5200 w/ Tamron 24-70mm @ 24mm f/16 1/30sec ISO 100

Borrego Serpent Panorama. Nikon D5200 w/ Tamron 24-70mm @ 24mm f/18 1/40sec ISO 125 on Tripod. 8 separate images stitched together in Lightroom + Photoshop

My favorite of the whole trip!

Great choice on color (I too think it's agm). Looks like a great place to visit. Hell, anywhere's a great place to visit as long as you're driving a 1LE

It is AGM, but your right some of the photos do make it look like it could be black. Borrego Springs is beautiful, but it is the middle of summer in the desert. I went there to view the Perseid meteor shower and while I was there it was about 105 degrees. Sadly the meteor shower was a bust because of overcast skies and the full moon. But I didn't come back empty handed.

The roads to and from San Diego to Borrego Springs are some of the best twisty stretches of pavement that you don't have to pay to use, and on top of it the views are quite nice. Switchbacks up to about 4000ft and then the same down the other side seem like they were made specifically for the 1LE. It makes me want to jump right back in the car and do it again.

If you are in the San Diego area some of the guys are planning a trip up to Borrego on August 31st. I wont be able to attend but if you are in So Cal I highly recommend you make the trip at least once in whatever 2 or 4 wheel conveyance you can get your hands on. Here is the thread over in the California regional section if anyone wants to sign up. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=370525

pretty shure you would agree that it's too bad the front license plate is too much present for all of us.

They seem to do it a couple times a year and to be honest its super hot out there right now with a lot of bugs so it you might be better off waiting till the next one during cooler weather. But don't let that hold you back its a great trip even if you go by yourself. Take the 8 East to 79 North, then 78 East to Yaqui Pass Rd and follow that to Borrego Springs. About 3 miles north of the traffic circle is where the Dragon/Serpent is located.

The license plate is removable and I have it off most of the time but since I was going to be on the road an extended period of time I left it on as I didn't want to get hassled for not having it and souring what turned out to be a great trip. I wish California was a no front plate state but unfortunately it isn't. I am hoping to get a set of black/yellow plates if they get enough people to apply for them and that would look a lot better even in those situations where I have to leave it on. (here is where you can preorder them if anyone is interested http://www.dmv.ca.gov/legacyplates/index.htm)

Thank you everyone for the nice comments. I really appreciate it especially considering I am just starting out with photography but its quickly becoming a big hobby for me. Your encouragement means a lot.
