Does a muffler delete add horsepower?

Heard someone here say they ran a faster 1/4 mile with one done.

Noob on the subject, thanks

From 1/4 runs from some Camaro's that only have that mod, I would say it sure does!
Their MPh in the 1/4 was like 112 or 113.

All I did was delete muff and resonator. I noticed a little more punch, barely but I think the HP did get better.

It removes restriction from the exhaust system, so yes it does increase HP. How much, who knows unless someone does a dyno before and after.

Also - you save your self a bunch of weight, the mufflers on these cars are outrageously heavy.

Magnaflow competition series catback for SS adds ~15hp. The system does not have a muffler.
