Custom hood scoop ideas?
With my Whipple I had the race scoop in the drivers side lower grill that then directed the cold air up behind the headlight and then into the insulated CAI air box. Now that I’m running a Vortech V7 YSI billet supercharger the intake is on the drivers side in front of the master cylinder. Has anyone ever made or saw a custom intake scoop in the factory hood? I was looking at some neat carbon fiber hoods but the boss shot that down as she doesn’t like them.
Thanks!

Check out the hood vents from Trackspec. I've got them on my C5 Z06. Good quality items.

Thanks Zona!!!
I’ll have to check them out. I’m thinking about a forward facing scoop like on the 1st gen 300ZX.

The Trackspec pieces are designed to relieve under hood pressure, which still lowers underhood temps because of the increased airflow, but they don't do anything to pressurize the intake charge like a CAI intake (not sure how much that even does with FI). I run Trackspec vents because they stopped selling the Hexvents right before I needed them. I don't know if Trackspec did not have those vents when i bought mine or I did not see them, but I would have definitely gone with those. I like the vents I have, but they don't mount flush as they are stamped from 1/8 aluminum so they definitely look more like a race car piece than a factory piece.

Thanks CC.
It’s on my list after new wheels/tires. Trying to see if I can get 390’s on the rear.

I saw that, but I don't see how that works. Even removing the wheel liner would not get you past the frame rail unless you back halved the car.

Those hood vents that CamaroCracka posted look really similar to the ZL1 Addons Stage 1 vents.
@CamaroCracka, car is looking great!

I don’t know how it works either. It says it mounts on a 17x10 wheel. I had 20x11 on with no issue, but with the liners out the 18x12 I ran last year is rubbing badly now.

I ran a 335 on an 18 with 56 offset using a 5mm spacer and it barely rubbed the liner, assuming you gain half an inch without the liner, that still only puts you at 355-360. I suppose you can always run a large bolt on spacer, but the wheel will stick out. Maybe longer wheel studs and a half inch spacer would be close. I run Ford truck studs just to be sure of good thread engagement. Got the idea on here.
